DORCHESTER, Ont. - They swam like their animal namesake.

The Otterville Otters captured the team title at the annual Tri-County swimming championships this year held Saturday at the Dorchester Community Pool.

Led by 11 medalists, including three individual gold, Otterville won by 70 points over second place Strathroy.

Host Dorchester Dolphins placed third and lifted the trophy for displaying Most Spirit throughout the competition.

Thamesford, Woodstock and Delhi, rounded out the team standings.

Katie Dimitroff in open girls and Avery Weishar in U6 girls won combined individual gold for Dorchester. Braydon Anderson took silver in U10 boys and Brookie Chen, bronze in U8 girls.

Just missing the podium for Dorchester was Bridget O'Neil (U10 girls) and Lanie Robinson (U14 girls).

Swimmers earned points from each of the four types of races, butterfly, back crawl, breaststroke and freestyle.

For Otterville, Declan Knill (U8 boys), Laney Joyce (U12 girls) and Medley Ingram (U16 girls) took home gold medals.

Leighton Versteeg (U10 girls), Dylan James (U12 boys), Gabriella Berkeley (U14 girls) and Isla MacDonald (U12 girls) took silver medals and Sidney James (U14 girls). Phelisha Knill (U12 girls) Colton Van Wyk (U8 boys) and Luke Peterson (U10 boys) won bronze.

Thamesford had three champions, Louella Embury (U8 girls), Violet Pike (U14 girls) and Liam Dompierre (U14 boys). Charlie Dompierre (U8 boys) took silver and Lyla Couch (U8 girls), Kieran McFarland (U14 boys) and Hazel Embury (U10 girls) grabbed bronze.

Woodstock had Ellis McCutcheon (U8 boy) and Yvette McCutcheon (U10 girls) winning gold.

For Strathroy, Andre Cherneski (U6 boys), Kieran Lincoln (U12 boys) and Matteo Fanelli (U16 boys) were individual champs. Ella Waugh (U6 girls), Jocelyn Higgins (U16 girls), Dan Bezaire (U14 boys) and Lucas Rodrigues (U16 boys) took silver and Olivia Japp (U16 girls) and Grayson O'Neill (U12 boys), bronze.

Sawyer Edwards had Delhi's lone medal, a bronze in U16 boys.
