Comets bring home OMHA U11D silver

WINDSOR, Ont. - The West Lorne Comets are bringing home a provincial silver medal. The Comets lost 4-1, to Saugeen Shores, this afternoon in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) U11D final. Earlier today, West Lorne edged Shallow Lake, 4-3, in overtime, in the semifinals. The Comets trailed 3-1 after two periods, before scoring three unanswered goals. The Comets went 2-1 in pool play, defeating Kincadine, 3-2, and Manvers, 6-4, and losing to Saugeen Shores, 2-1.

West Lorne 2023 Kraft Hockeyville

WEST LORNE, Ont. - West Lorne is Kraft Hockeyville 2023. With the votes tallied, the West Elgin community was announced the winner, capturing the grand prize of $250,000 in arena upgrades, $10,000 worth of new hockey equipment and the opportunity to host a NHL exhibition game. The funds will help with a range of projects at the West Lorne Arena, including a new front entrance, upgrading dressing rooms to accommodate more players and an expanded warm room for families and fans.
Also announced, the municipality of West Elgin will add an additional $150,000 towards arena upgrades. West Lorne will host the annual Kraft Hockeyville festivities later this year. Participating teams and broadcast details are still to be announced.
The communities of West Lorne, Dutton and Rodney have been decorated in black and gold in support of the bid for the past three weeks.

Voting on as West Lorne shoots to be 2023 Kraft Hockeyville

WEST LORNE, Ont. - It is game on for Kraft Hockeyville in West Lorne. For two days, Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1, the community in West Elgin will be pushing for votes to be the 2023 Kraft Hockeyville winner. To score the prize of $250,000 in arena upgrades and hosting a NHL exhibition game. It's unlimited voting over the two days, that started at 9 a.m. Friday. Among the activities in West Lorne, is a West Elgin secondary school alumni hockey game, a West Lorne Comets minor hockey alumni game and music by Comets alumni Connor Wilson. Winning Kraft Hockeyville 2023 would help with a range of upgrades at the West Lorne Arena, including a new front entrance, upgrading dressing rooms to accommodate more players and an expanded warm room for families and fans. The announcement is scheduled during the first intermission of the Hockey Night in Canada telecast of the Toronto Maple Leafs game. The other three finalists are Saint-Anselme, Quebec, Maple Ridge, B.C. and Ste. Anne, Manitoba.

Six rep Comets at Shamrock all-star games

WALLACEBURG, Ont. - Reed Street and Tavis Rowsom represented the West Lorne Comets in the Shamrock League U11 Rep all-star game. Comets Jace McGahan, Hudson Felder and goalies Hunter Gill and Gaga Sutton, played in the Shamrock U13 all-star game.

Comets advance to OMHA U11D final

WEST LORNE, Ont. - Macen Toth, Reed Street and Archy Leee scored as the West Lorne Comets blanked Ilderton, 3-0, to win their Shamrock League U11D Rep series, four points to two. The Comets advance to the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) U11 tier three championship, a eight team tournament, April 7-9 in Windsor. Goalie Jackson LaJoie had the shutout. The Comets are 6-2-1 these playoffs.
