Tight battles on SouthEast courts

   Huron Park edges Parkside and WCI for junior badminton team title

ST. THOMAS - In a tight overall badminton tournament, three Elgin County schools won gold at the TVRA SouthEast junior championships.

In high school time, Parkside Stampeders Damon Fish and Ty Titchner have been playing together a long time. The boys doubles champs, now in Grade 10, have been a duo since Grade seven at Mitchell Hepburn elementary school.

East Elgin Eagles Alex Centeno won girls singles, St. Joe's Rams Eva Garagozzo and Melissa Gillies, girls doubles and Parkside Stampeders Damon Fish and Ty Titchner, boys doubles.

Woodstock Huron Park squeezed out the team title by one point, over Parkside and Woodstock Collegiate Institute.

The top four in each of the five disciplines advance to WOSSAA, Tuesday, April 29 at Saunders Secondary school in London.
