St. Joe's second in team standings behind Strathroy District

UNION, Ont. - Jack Zylstra is the Thames Valley Region Athletics (TVRA) boys' golf champion.
The St. Joseph's Ram carded a 18-hole round of 73, to lead the field of 60 players, at the TVRA championship Thursday at the St. Thomas Golf and Country Club.
Strathroy District won the team title, with all four players finishing in the top 10. Ben Hudson was one shot behind Zylstra for silver, shooting a 74, while Logan Woodiwiss was third (77), and Hunter Talbot and Keagan Hackney, tied for ninth (84).
Zylstra led the Rams to second in the team standings, with Gryffin Gold, Callum Besley and Will O'Brien.
Parkside Stampeders Zander Battaglia, was fourth with a round of 77. Battaglia and teammates Dawson Broadhead, Cohen Kelly and Austin Vaughan, placed third.
Dorchester was fourth led by Nolan Candy who carded a 79, followed by WCI and Glencoe.
The top six schools move on to the Western Ontario championship (WOSSAA), back at Union, Thursday, September 28.
Individuals qualifying for WOSSAA are Nathan Kapitor (Ingersoll), Liam Miskelly (CECI), Connor Stefan (Holt Cross) and Logan van den Akker (Woodstock St. Mary's).
Taking the B flight team title were the East Elgin Eagles, led by Damian Loewen, who tied for second in the individual B flight standings with Cullen White, of Woodstock Huron Park.
Connor Mudford, of Woodstock College Avenue won the B flight individual title.
Qualifiers (top team, top three individuals) from WOSSAA move on to OFSAA, the high school provincial championship, October 11-13 at Ambassador Golf Club in Windsor.
