LONDON, Ont. - Not only did Marcel Scheele win his senior boys race, the St. Marys Salukis runner crossed the finish line 25 seconds ahead of everybody else.

Scheele won the title, at the Fanshawe Invitational cross country meet, held at the conservation area. Tyler Jones, of LaSalle Sandwich was second.

St. Thomas St. Joe's ran away with the senior boys team title, with their top four runners amassing 56 points.

Runner-up London Central was a distant second, with 115 points.

Joey Hardy led St. Joe's finishing fifth, followed by Kyle Luyt, in seventh, Cameron Douglas, 13th and Sam Gilmore, 30th. Josh DeKort placed 31st but crossed the line same time as Gilmore.

Mikenna Vanderheyden, of Strathroy D.C.I., won the senior girls' race, 17 seconds ahead of Sarnia Northern's Caroline Forbes.

Sarnia Northern handily won the team title with Forbes, Sarah Scott, in eighth, Katie Barwitzki, 26th and Morena Chiaassa, 40th.

Justin Sanders led London St. Thomas Aquinas midget boys to first place, by winning his race at the wire, one second ahead of Stratford St. Mike's Zachary McPhee.

Elizabeth Drake did win a race for St. Mike's, taking the junior girls' race.

London Oakridge took the junior girls' team title, although the Oaks had no runners in the top 10. Their top three placed 11th, 12th and 14th.

Joshua Zelek, from Stratford Central, won the junior boys' race, while London Central took the team title.

Brooke Jez, of Wingham F.E. Madill, won the midget girls race.

St. Mike's captured the midget girls' team banner.
