ST. THOMAS - The St. Thomas Jr. Stars found themselves in the third period.
The Jr. Stars scored six consecutive goals, rallying from down 2-0, to defeat the Dundas Blues, 6-3, in the U13 final, at the St. Thomas Minor Hockey Association (STMHA) Major tournament, at the Joe.
"I thought we dominated the play for most of the game and it was just a matter of time before we scored four of five goals," St. Thomas head coach Sandy Gillis said.
Ryder Doxtator, with two goals, Ronan Davidson, Leonardo Circelli, Nash Adams and Jackson Benoit, scored for the home team, who went 6-0-0 in the tournament.
"We had some tough games. There were some really good teams that we had to battle back like today, from being behind to get a win," Gillis said. "We focus a lot on when we are down. Focus on never giving up. All of our guys buy into the system which is nice. We can score a lot of goals. We are a team that controls the puck. We don't like to give it up."
The Jr. Stars outscored their opponents, 30-11.
"Our kids don't get down much. They've determination and they know the skill on this team," added Gillis. "There's a lot of competitiveness on this team and they feed off each other and cheer each other on."
The Jr. Stars also made the U11 and U15 finals, but both teams fell to Essex-Southpoint.
