Park alive again with cross country

   The annual invitational meet returned to the Springwater Conservation Area

   after a year absence with schools from across the Thames Valley region

ORWELL, Ont. - Muddy and slick conditions welcomed runners to the Springwater Invitational cross country meet but the rain stopped prior to the first race.

Schools from across the Thames Valley region converged on Springwater Conservation Area for the annual meet that was cancelled a year ago.

The St. Joseph's Rams won both the junior and novice boys team titles. Jayden McMullen led the Rams in the junior race finishing third. Rams' Noah Bakker and Fowler Little were third and fourth, in the novice race.

Parkside Stampeder Andrew Monteith was second in the junior boys' race behind Alex Leinweber, of London Mother Teresa.

Dorchester's Hannah McIntyre and Tegan Ceccanese, placed third and fourth respectively, in the senior girls' race.

St. Joe's Diego Alban Gasca won the two-kilometre para race, with teammate Gabe Dala placing fifth.

The TVRA Tri-County championship is Thursday, October 28 at Strathroy. This meet will conclude the season, as TVRA has opted out of WOSSAA and OFSAA competition.

At Springwater, seniors ran five kilometres, the juniors had a four kilometre course and the novices covered three kilometres.
