ORWELL, ON. - Runners throughout the Thames Valley Region had the opportunity to check the terrain and the competition.

Actually, at Springwater Conservation Area, the site for both Thames Valley Region Athletics (TVRA) Tri-County and Central division cross-country championships, on October 19, the terrain may be tougher than any opponent.

Full race results.

The course, entirely located in a picturesque wooded area, offers a few challenging hills that could make or break one's race strategy.

Schools from TVRA and as far away as Clinton, Simcoe, Sarnia and Windsor, competed in six races, at the annual Springwater Invitational meet.

Hallee Knelsen, an East Elgin Eagle, had the top result for Elgin County-Dorchester, finishing fourth, in the midget girls' three-kilometre race.

St. Joseph's Arielle Aitken-Guigna was the sixth fastest midget girl, while Central Elgin Titan Petra Salin, was 12th, in the same race.

East Elgin's Nathaniel Abell finished seventh, in senior boys (five kilometres) and Dorchester's Jonathan Ledgley, 10th, and Connor Erb, 12th, in midget boys (three kms).

Dorchester's midget boys team, of Ledgley, Erb, Aiden Currah and Charles Quance, placed second, after LaSalle Sandwich.

Led by Kyleigh Stubbs' 12th place, and including Grace Gillet, Jocelyn Delgado and Nicole Laframboise, the St. Joseph's senior girls team, placed second, behind London Banting.

Tri-County will send the top three teams, in each of the six divisions, plus any athlete in the top 20, to the WOSSAA championships, at Clinton St. Anne's, October 25.

OFSAA is November 4, in Petawawa
