ST. THOMAS -
The
Central Elgin Titans are heading to WOSSAA.
Sherah Kuipers and Faith
DeVries dropped 11 and 10 points, respectively, to lead the Titans over the
Woodstock CI Red Devils, 41-28, in the Thames Valley Regional Athletics (TVRA)
South-East A junior girls' basketball final, Tuesday, at CECI.
"We started really well and
went up 12-4 in the first quarter. Smothering defence and great offensive and
defensive boards (strong rebounding by Kuipers)," Titans coach Shannon Swift
said. "We went really cold in the second quarter only scoring two points."
The Titans led 14-11 at
half.
"The second half of the game
we were much better. We moved the ball really well on offense, waiting for that
open shot," said Swift. "We started breaking their full-court press and
continued with the excellent defense and rebounding (with) WCI sometimes not
even getting a shot off or many times only one shot."
Camryn Roth chipped in with
six points for the Titans and Kiki Wilson and five points.
The Western Ontario
Secondary Schools Athletic Association (WOSSAA) tournament is Tuesday, November
13th, hosted by the TVRA Central Division A champion.
