LONDON, Ont. - A fourth quarter rally fell a field goal short as the St. Joseph's Rams were edged 20-17 by the St. Andre Bessette Bulldogs, in District senior football, at City Wide Sports Park.
Trailing 20-7 after three quarters, the Rams scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and had opportunity to tie or score the go head points.
Trevor Loebach had a 40-yard TD run to pull the Rams to 10 points, at 20-10. Rams' quarterback Owen Zufelt had a TD on one yard keeper, followed by Wesley McLennan scoring a two-point convert.
The Rams had opened the scoring with a first quarter field goal, kicked by Zufelt.
But, the Rams couldn't stop Bulldogs' Peter Bringi from running in to the end zone three times, successfully converted twice.
St. Joe's finishes the regular season at 0-3-1 and will face first place CCH in a semifinal, Wednesday, November 10, 5:45 p.m, at 1Password Park, in St. Thomas. The Bulldogs take on the Aquinas Flames in the other semifinal.
In junior playoffs, with both games at 1Password Park, St. Joe's faces Aquinas in a semifinal, at 10:15 a.m., followed by Mother Tereasa tackling CCH.
