ST. THOMAS - Dale Curtis showed why she is the skip of the 2018 Masters Women's provincial curling champions that placed fourth at Canadians.

Curtis and her Port Perry curling club rink of Rosemary Gowman, her third from the provincial team, Carol Jackson and Bernie Gillett, won the 40th annual Belles & Brooms bonspiel, beating the Tina VanderWallen-Howey skipped rink out of the Tillsonburg Curling Club, in the A flight final, at the St. Thomas Curling Club.

Earlier this year, Curtis and Gowman, along with Brenda Clark and Susan Martin, won the Master's title and then at the National level, as Team Ontario, lost in the bronze medal game to Nova Scotia. B.C., the eventual Canadian champions, beat Ontario in the semifinals.

Winning the Belles and Brooms' B flight from the Aylmer Curling Club was Judy Vanymeren, Lisa Mervis, Bertha Stricklan and Bozena Boadway, overcoming an injury on day one to teammate Christa Brouwer.

Taking home the C flight title, from the Ilderton Curling Club was Dawn Butler, Laurie Bruwell, Fran Corby and Judi Rooke.

The London rink of Sylia Leuszler, Connie Weir, Valerie Clark and Sandra Fox, won D flight.

From the Highland Curling Club, Ruth Alexander, Sue Aubin, Gayle George and Miolyka Steele won E flight.

The Sandi Coombs rink of Terri Vansevenant, Karen Auckland and Pat Monteith, from the host club, was the F flight winner.
