DORCHESTER,
Ont. - The Dorchester
Beavers are undefeated champions.
The Beavers completed a 6-0 season,
by winning the Thames Valley Regional Athletics South-East junior boys'
volleyball final, defeating the West Elgin Wildcats, three games to one, 25-22,
25-8, 23-25, 25-21.
"It feels really great. It was
really nice to play in front of fans," said Evan Stevens, Dorchester's setter.
"We've worked really hard at practice and we played great today. I think all the
passing we have done has paid off. The good passing gives us a chance to set it
up to one of our hitters, instead of throwing it over the net out of
desperation. Our passes almost always gave us an opportunity for a spike."
The Beavers won all five matches
during the regular season, while dropping just two games, on their way finishing first
in the East Division.
"We always made sure we worked as
a team to get three hits. Getting three hits sets us up for a more powerful hit
as oppose to a free ball," Stevens said. "Our coaches were really encouraging. I
think the fact that we always had control of our passes and they were
consistently on target, gave us the chance too get a quality hit every serve."
The senior Beavers placed third in
the East with a 3-2 record and won their third place South-East cross over
match, in three games, against the Central Elgin Titans.
