ST. THOMAS - Perhaps Ron MacLean and Tara Slone provided a little inspiration.

In St. Thomas, for Rogers Hometown Hockey, MacLean and Slone were on hand for the ceremonial puck drop, prior to the St. Thomas Jr. Stars minor bantam final, between the host team and London Mustangs White, during the St. Thomas Minor Hockey Association minor / AE hockey tournament, at the Timken Centre.

Liam Kidder scored twice, as the Jr. Stars defeated the Mustangs, 5-2, to finish with a 5-0 tournament record.

Rob Shivers, Josh Troop and Brent Haggerty, also scored for St. Thomas, ‎while Noah Szabo, picked up two assists.

Riley Boyce and Ethan Hoskin, gave London leads of 1-0 and 2-1. After Kidder tied the game 2-2, the Jr. Stars added three unanswered goals.

St. Thomas went 3-0 in their pool, before dropping the Amherstburg Stars, 6-1, in the semi-finals.

The Jr. Stars' also won the minor atom title, shutting out Aurora, 3-0, in the final, to also complete a 5-0 run.

Four other Jr. Stars' teams were in action, over the three day event, held at Timken and Memorial arenas.

St. Thomas lost in the novice final, 3-1, to Milton. The Jr. Stars were 3-0 in pool play and edged Belle River, 2-1, in a semi-final.

The peewee A/E Stars were upset by Stouffville, 2-1, in the semi-finals, after a 4-0 run in pool play.

Losing in their semi-finals, were he bantam A/E Stars, 4-2, to Chatham-Kent and the atom A/E Stars, 8-0, to Stratford.
