ST. THOMAS - The Southwold Cougars are the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) Elgin County boys' slo-pitch champions.

Southwold went 7-0 in the playoff tournament, including routing the Dutton Dynamos, 11-2, in the final, at the Tarry Complex.

The Cougars scored three runs in the first inning and put the championship game away with a five run outburst in the sixth inning.

Owen Bogart had a base clearing triple, while Junior Coleman, Will Richardson and Nolan Szabo, each had two hits.

Both teams advance to the TVDSB Valley finals, in June, but unfortunately Southwold won't be attending due to several players away on a class field trip.

The Elgin County girls' playoffs are Monday, May 28, at the Complex. The Summers' Corners Sabres are the reigning champions.
