St. Joe's loses boys' final at the 16-team soccer tournament

TILLSONBURG, Ont. - The Dorchester Beavers made a statement with league playoffs on the horizon.
The Beavers went undefeated winning the girls' division at the Gemini Cup, Friday, at the Tillsonburg Soccer Park. Over four games, Dorchester out scored their opponents, 16-1.
Julia Ritchie, Maddy Benjamin and Annika Nolte scored, as Dorchester beat London Lucas, 3-1, in the final.
Dorchester started the day shutting out London South, 6-0, with Leah Hunt netting a hat trick. Lexi Wylie and the Nolte sisters, Annika and Bella, also scored, while goalies Kayle Smith and Mackenna Brown, split duties.
A 3-0 blanking of the Parkside Stampeders, with keeper Smith the clean sheet. Wylie struck twice, one on a beauty header, and Annika Nolte.
The Beavers clinched top spot in their pool, silencing host Glendale, 4-0, on two goals from Faith Snyders and singles by Wylie and Bella Nolte. Brown was in net.
Parkside defeated their cross-town rivals, St. Joseph's Rams, in the girls' third place game.
In the boys' final, Ingersoll beat St. Joseph's.
East Elgin Eagles and Parkside Stampeders' boys teams also were at the tournament.
At St. Thomas, Madison Coulbeck scored the lone goal as the Central Elgin Titans blanked the West Elgin Wildcats, 1-0, in TVRA girls action, at 1Password Park.
