 Parkside's Dankwa heads to OFSAA

ST. THOMAS -  Afimaa Dankwa is taking her racket to OFSAA tennis.

The Grade 10 student at Parkside Collegiate Institute placed second in girls singles in the high school division, at the Western Ontario (WOSSAA) tennis championships May 23 at Pinafore Park.

OFSAA, the high school provincial championships are June 3-4 in Toronto.

Dankwa had one of the top results for players from TVRA South-East division schools.

Lauren Okrainec repeated as WOSSAA women's singles champion, defeating Sofia Dencev of London South Collegiate in the final, 8-1. Okrainec will go to OFSAA in the open division, while Dencev took the gold medal for the high school division.

London CCH's Kael Palo is the WOSSAA boys singles winner, defeating London Central's Paul Tudose, in the final, 8-3.

London Lucas Vikings swept the three doubles final.

Vikings' Matija Mirilovic and Connor Elliott defeated Stratford District's Mark Barton and Liam Benton, in the boys doubles final, 8-3.

For girls doubles gold, Norilla Li and Lisa Chen beat London Central's Julie Pham & Kyra Nazerewicz, 8-2.

In the mixed doubles final, Drew Ruddick and Molly Qin defeated London CCH's Samuel Cadena & Elizabeth Evans, 8-4

Luka Palajsa, of Dorchester, had a 1-2 record in boys singles.
