ST. THOMAS -
The St. Thomas Panthers made sure
they were bringing home a title.
Andie Dekker scored twice and
goalie Caroline Rogers was perfect, as the Panthers blanked the Bluewater Hawks,
5-0, to capture the Western Ontario Girls Hockey League U11 HL title, today at
Strathroy.
"They were ready to go right from
the start," coach Craig Barnes said. "Andie Dekker scored on the first shift,
and they took off from there. Today was the most complete game the team played
all year."
Samantha Lee, Austen Goebel and
Ivee Benwell, completed the scoring.
"I was impressed on their focus
from the start, and they didn't let up all game," Barnes said. "They
really played well throughout the entire game. It was definitely a fantastic way
to finish the season. The girls grew all season. Couldn't be more proud of them
and entire coaching staff."
St. Thomas won game one, 4-3, on home ice, March
21.
Dekker, Goebel, Kensley Rundle and Olivia Bosma
scored.
