ST. THOMAS - Nine local teams are heading to the Ontario Women's Hockey Association (OWHA) provincial championships.

Five St. Thomas Panthers teams, U18BB, U15B, U13C, U11A and U15C, have qualified for the tournament in April throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

The U18BB Panthers are coming off an undefeated regular season and have won three tournaments this season and came second once.

An unbeaten run through play downs was capped with a 5-0 win for the Panthers U13C team.

A 3-1 defeat of rival London Devilettes clinched a spot for the U11A Panthers.

The Belmont Aylmer Dorchester (BAD) Blazers are also sending four teams, U18AA, U15C, U13C and U11C.

Three shutouts and 15 goals for over a 5-0 record, carried the U15C Blazers to their provincial berth.

A 2-1 win over the London Devilettes in their final round robin game gave the U18AA Blazers advancement to the provincial stage. Dani Kidder scored the game winner with 16 seconds remaining in the third period.
