TORONTO, Ont. - Already excited from being on their first overnight trip, the St. Thomas U11C Panthers made the weekend more memorable by winning gold.

Lily Fife on a end to end rush, netted the puck upstairs with 14 seconds remaining in overtime, to lift the Panthers to a 2-1 win over the Kitchener Lady Rangers, in the final at the Leaside March Break Madness tournament March 10-12.

Beatrice Wilson scored in regulation for the Panthers.

The win avenged a tournament opening 1-0 loss to Kitchener. The Panthers then won three games in a row, all by shutout while scoring 11 total goals.

"The girls were elated to win. We played in two other tournaments and had lost in a final at the last one so they were thrilled," coach Kendall Dougherty said. "The girls never stopped fighting over the weekend, and showed just how much they have improved over the year."
