STRATFORD, Ont. - The St. Thomas Tomcats capitalized on some wild pitching from the Stratford Nationals, for a 5-2 win, in the Junior Intercounty Baseball League.

Trailing 1-0 after one inning, the Tomcats scored three times in the second inning, thanks to three hit batsmen, two base on balls and a RBI single by Alex Pettipiece.

St. Thomas added a run in each of the eighth and ninth innings. Stratford pushed one more across the plate in their final at bat.

Five Tomcat pitchers, Ben Hubert, Mason Newell, Ryan Brown and Eric and Alex Pettipiece, combined to strikeout 16 Nationals, while allowing two runs on four singles and six walks.

Brown picked up the win, working two innings.

Alex Pettipiece went two-for-five, with one walk and a RBI. Brendon Johnston had a single and two walks.

Josh Hare reached base four times, hit by a pitch twice and drawing two free passes to first base. Hare came around to score two runs.
