ST. THOMAS - Ruby Steen scored three times to lead the St. Thomas Reds to a division best ninth win of the season.
St. Thomas defeated Golden Feet, 3-1, in the top tier of U14 girls, in the Elgin Middlesex District Soccer League, to remain perfect at 9-0-0.
"We played really well offensively. Defence too. We play pretty good all around. We've improved in our passing," Steen said. "We've played together for so long and we all know each other so well and I think that helps a lot on the field. We worked well together and we're positive."
The Reds extended their lead over the second place Golden Feet, to 18 points.
Steen's second hat trick of the season, also lifted her to the division's goal scoring lead, with 16 for the season, two more than teammate Kylie Todd. Katelyn Broadhead has seven goals.
"Kylie had a lot of shots and Kenzie played really well in net, said Steen.
St. Thomas has scored 47 goals in their nine games and only allowed five.
Keeper Mackenzie Lazenby has five shutouts.
