HAMILTON, Ont. - Brad Verhoeven, Josh Hare and Jackson Van Bakel, each drove in two runs, to lead the St. Thomas Tomcats in a 9-0 seven inning mercy shutout, of the Hamilton Jr. Cardinals, Monday, in Junior Intercounty Baseball.

The Tomcats led 5-0 after four innnings and blew the game open adding three more runs in the fifth inning, taking advantage of 11 walks given up by Hamilton pitchers.

Verhoeven had a double and single, while Alex Pettipiece slapped out two singles, drew a walk and scored three runs. Hare finished with a single and two walks down to first base.

The Cardinals only managed one hit and four walks off four Tomcat pitchers who piled up a total of 13 strikeouts. Only two Hamilton base runners made it passed first base.

Eric Pettipiece struck out the side in both the sixth and seventh innings. Jaryd Lund fanned three batters for a quick third inning. Jake Haak had four strikeouts over the fourth and fifth innings. Thomas Henderson worked the first two innings, to pick up the win.

St. Thomas, now 2-1, host the Brantford Jr. Red Sox, Friday, 7:30 p.m. at Emslie Field.
