Three gold at prep meet one

   St. Thomas Legion has 22 top 10 results at AO indoor track and field meet

ST. THOMAS - The St. Thomas Legion club had three gold medalists and 22 total top 10 results at Athletics Ontario indoor series meet one, January 11/12th, at the Toronto track and field centre.

Hallee Knelsen won both the under-18 women's 800 (2:13.34) and 1500 metre (4:44.54) races.



Tayah DeSousa won the U18 women's long jump (5.14m) and placed second in the 60-metre hurdles (8.91 sec.).

Michael Roth won the U20 men's 400 metres, in 51.57 seconds and finished fifth in the 200 metre dash (23.25 sec.).

Mason Basson brought home silver in the U18 men's 800-metre run (1:59.85) and was fifth in the 1500 metres (4:17.62).

Bailey Couch displayed consistency placing third in the U20 60-metre hurdles (8.73 sec.), high jump (1.80m), long jump (6.19m) and shot put (11.79m).

Placing fourth were Ethan Zwicker in the U16 men's 300 metre dash (43.4 sec.), Justin Cole in the U18 3000 metre run (10:24.78) and Dylen Belanger in both the U18 men's 60-metre hurdles (8.73 sec.) and 400-metre run (55.9 sec.)

Harrison Belanger placed fourth in the U18 800 metres (2:04.92) and eighth in the 1500 metres (4:27.62).

Claire Craig placed fifth in the U18 women's 3000 metres.

Claireese Coffey landed sixth in U18 long jump (4.53m).

Vincent Moore was seventh in the U18 800 metres (2:09.54) and 14th in the 1500 metres.

Kyra Vellinga placed seventh in the U18 women's 400 metre run (1:02.34).


Four top 10s for Luna

Jadyn Luna, from Thorndale, competing with London-Western club, placed third in both U18 women's long jump (4.66m) and shot put (9.76m), eighth in the 60-metre hurdles and 10th, in high jump.


Relay provincials

Occurring simultaneously with the prep meet, were the AO relay provincial championships.

St. Thomas Legion's U20 men's 4x200-metre team of Couch, Roth, Dylen Belanger and Fox Gray and the U20 4x400-metre team of Couch, Moore, Roth and Dylen Belanger, won gold medals.

St. Thomas' U18 4x800-metre team of Cole, Basson, Moore and Harrison Belanger took the bronze medal.

The U18 women's 4x200-metre team was disqualified.
