ST. THOMAS - The St. Thomas U16A Stars had the Ontario Provincial Police after them.
No crimes occurred, it was a charity hockey game for the Tyler Coleiro 873 Memorial Foundation Saturday at Memorial arena.
The foundation provides financial assistance to families in crisis and sport sponsorships to qualifying families. In four years, $30,000 has been raised. Visit 873foundation.ca for more info or to donate.
Colin and Shannon Coleiro, Tyler's parents, were on hand for the ceremonial puck drop.
The Stars played well, but as Kenny Rogers sings, you can not out run the long arm of the law, not even on ice, as the OPP won the game. A skills competition followed.
In 2019, at the age of 18, Tyler was tragically killed in an automobile accident.
The 873 comes from Tyler's favourite player, Sydney Crosby and the number Tyler wore on his jersey.
