NEW YORK, N.Y. - Mike Roth keeps adding to his gold collection.
The 20-year old from St. Thomas won the men's 400-metre dash, in 48.22 seconds, Friday at the Scarlet Knight Open indoor athletics meet at the Nike track and field center.
Next day, Roth, a sophomore at the University of Texas-San Antonio (UTSA), finished fourth in the 200-metre dash (21.40 sec.) and anchored the UTSA Roadrunners men's 4x400-metre relay team to gold (3:16.24).
Upcoming for Roth are the NCAA (Conference) C-USA championships, Feb. 18/19, in Birmingham, Alabama.
Aiden Coles, of St. Thomas, was fifth in the men's 1000-meter run, at an Invitational meet, at Boston University Feb. 3.
Coles, a freshman, at Iona University, also helped the Gaels' men's distance medley relay team to second place, finishing in a school record time of 9:39.53.
Back on January 20th, Coles won the men's 800-meter run (1:55.52), at the Ramapo College Opener, at the Armory track and field center, in New York City.
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championships are Feb. 18/19, in NYC.
Tayah DeSousa placed ninth, in the women's 60-meter hurdles (8.81 sec.) and 33rd, in long jump (5.62 meters), in a field featuring 70 competitors.
The 19-year old from St. Thomas is
preparing for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) championships, in
Spokane, Washington, Feb. 17/18.
York Open
Liam Clark, of St. Thomas, helped the Waterloo Warriors win the men's 4x4000meter relay race (3:35.95), at the York Open indoor meet, Feb. 4, at the Toronto Track and Field Centre.
Brianna Rand, of Dorchester, was on the Western Mustangs' women's 4x200-meter relay team that placed second.
Brady Fodor, of Shedden, was eighth, in open men's shot put (12.70m), Claireese Coffey, from St. Thomas, 10th, in women's long jump (4.89m) and Harrison Belanger, 14th, in the open men's 600-meter run (1:25.9), all with the Mustangs.
