ST. THOMAS, ON - Ingersoll does it again to the Parkside Stampeders.
Sommer Lednicky completed her hat trick, scoring with 1:10 remaining in overtime, to lift the Ingersoll Blue Bombers over Parkside, 4-3, capturing the Thames Valley Regional Athletics (TVRA) South-East girls' hockey title, for the second consecutive season, at Memorial Arena.
The Bombers take the final in a two game sweep, after winning game one, 4-3, in Ingersoll, on Monday.
"We told them (players) to keep shooting and storming the net. We just couldn't put it in," Parkside coach Lori Congdon said. "We had several power plays that we could not score on. They (Ingersoll) hustled on the penalty kill and didn't give us many opportunities."
The Stampeders were one for nine, on the power play, including two minutes early in overtime and a five-on-three advantage for a full minute late third period.
Kaitlin Ellery's second goal of the game did come on the power play, knotting the affair at three.
Parkside trailed 2-0 early and 3-1 after two periods.
Amber Foster opened the scoring for Ingersoll. Lednicky's second goal came while shorthanded putting the Bombers up 3-1. Sabrina Schuett drew two assists.
Lednicky, already with two goals, found herself facing Parkside goalie Braelyn Dennis, at point blank with time to pick her spot to shoot.
"I think both of our D-men went into the corner and left her (Lednicky) and the puck went right to her," said Congdon.
It is the third consecutive season Ingersoll eliminates Parkside and back to back overtime celebrations in the final.
