Giesbrecht scores 19 points as East Elgin defeats Huron Park Huskies

AYLMER, Ont. - The East Elgin Eagles punched their ticket to the TVRA South East senior boys basketball AA final with a 56-53 victory Tuesday over the Huron Park Huskies.

Gavin Giesbrecht led the way for the home team with 19 points, while Nate Twinem tacked on 14, half of those coming from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter when the Huskies pushed hard to challenge the Eagles' lead.

Ryan Smith contributed 12 points and Carter Wall nine for the winners.

J. Mitchell canned 24 for Huron Park, 18 of those in the second half to ignite the Huskies' hopes as they pushed back from a 28-13 deficit at the half. A. Micknevicius and J. Beattie split 22 more for the visitors.

The Eagles will face College Avenue for the title on Thursday, 3 p.m., in Woodstock.
