ST. THOMAS - Ashlynne Brown had the highlight of the night.

The Parkside Stampeder forward skated end to end before depositing the puck behind Oakridge Oaks' goalie Layla McCauley mid third period, for what would be the decisive goal, in a 3-2 victory, Wednesday, in Thames Valley Region Athletics Central Division girls' hockey, at the Joe.

"I skated up the ice and faked to the one side of the goalie and went to the other side and popped it in," Brown said. "I wasn't sure (carrying the puck the entire time), but I gained a lot of speed and then I was able to drive by the defence."

Allie Tares potted two goals, giving Parkside leads of 1-0 and 2-1. Olivia Sutton, Tessa Pellerine and Haley Umansky, drew assists.

Meadow Carr and Cadence Billingsley, replied for Oakridge.

"A lot of the team is young players so we have some good team work out there. We have a lot of speed. We're fast, so our fore-check is good and our back-check is pretty hard too," Brown said. "We'll tighten up the D and get a little more communication. When we get a little bit more communication out there, we'll be able to put things together and get more wins."

Brown, who also plays for the B.A.D. Blazers U18 AA team, has three goals this season for Parkside.

The Stampeders have a 1-1-1 record in the Central Division.

In other girls' hockey action, the Lady Eagles defeated Glendale at Tillsonburg, for a 2-0-0 record, in the South-East Division.
