
Solid start to the track & field season for LDSS at the Royal City meet

GUELPH, ON. - No one could win an event, but four athletes led the Lord Dorchester Beavers, with five runners up results, at the Royal City high school track and field meet, at St. James high school.
LDSS had 17 top five results, including a pair of second place finishes by Colson Erb, in the senior men's 800 and 1500 metre races.

In the 800, Erb crossed the finish line in 2:03.78, edged by Guelph Our Lady of Lourdes' Brock McKenzie (2:03.59).
Centre Dufferin's Nicholas Bannon (4:16.71) had the advantage on Erb (4:19.17) in the 1500.
Emma McKnight landed in second, in senior women's long jump (4.69 metres), just two centimetres behind Nia Ebos, of Hamilton St. Mary's (4.71m).
Sarah Ashby was second in senior women's discus (27.5m), fourth in shot put (8.86m) and ninth in javelin (21.32m).
Sarah Smith placed second, in the intermediate women's 800 metres, finishing in 2:36.12, behind Isabelle Bauman, of Hamilton St. Mary's (2:30.85).
Jaime Worsfold finished third, in the intermediate women's 300-metre hurdles (56.22 seconds) and fifth, in long jump (4.15m).
Thomas Hertner, third, senior men's shot put (11.57m); Connor Erb, fourth, intermediate men's 1500 metres (4:51.94); Alison Granger, fourth, senior women's javelin (23.72m), fifth, discus (26.5m), 11th, shot put (6.76m); Owen Pink, fifth, intermediate men's 1500m (4:55.64); Megan Brownrigg, fifth, junior women's 100m (15.77 sec.), fifth, 80m hurdles (15.77 sec.), 11th, 300m hurdles (1:03.05); Jacob Brownrigg, fifth, senior men's high jump (1.55m).
