Buczkowski win criterium race at Michigan

AUBURN Hills, Mich. - Eve Buczkowski, 15, from St. Thomas, won the women's Pro 1/2 criterium race today at the Michigan cycling championships. The state championships was part of the Debaerts-Devos Pro-Am Memorial bike race. Brody Mann, of St. Thomas, was third in the men's Category 3 race, followed by a 20th place finish in the men's Pro 1/2 criterium.

Five St. Thomas cyclists capture 10 provincial road medals

NORTH BAY, Ont. - Five cyclists from St. Thomas brought home a combined 10 medals, including six gold from the Ontario Cycling provincial road championships. The three day event featured the time trial, criterium and road race, August 4-6.
Jeff Schiller won the Master men's criterium and road race. Andrew Buczkowski won gold in the Master men's time trial and bronze in the criterium. Jayden McMullen won the U19 men's criterium and bronze in the road race. Eve Buckzkowski, 15, won the U19 women's criterium, took silver in the time trial and finished fourth in the road race. Alex Fangeat, 15, won the U17 women's time trial, silver in the U19 women's criterium and placed fifth in the road race.

McMullen wins sage top category

LONDON, Ont. - Jayden McMullen of St Thomas won the A category and was the junior men's winnner at the London Centennials Wheelers Stage races. The London bike club offers weekly races for cyclists and for three races in July, riders earned points from each race, totalled after the third one. Eve Buczkowski, age 15, took the junior women's category and placed second overall for women behind Larissa Pedersen. Ben Buczkowski, younger brother of Eve, placed third in the C category.

Two local cyclists ride in Intelligentsia Cup

CHICAGO, Ill. - Brody Mann and Eve Buczkowski added quite an experience to their cycling careers. The two St. Thomas teenagers participated in the Intelligentsia Cup, an annual 10-day long cycling criterium road race series, occurring in different areas of Chicago, July 21-30. Cyclists come from around the world, including Olympians and pros. The local pair competed in six of the 10 races. Mann, in men's category three, had placements of ninth, 10th twice and 11th, in fields ranging from 50-72 cyclists of all ages. Mann also didn't finish one race due to a crash, but the 16-year old was ok. Buczkowski, 15, in women's category three, finished 13th, 16th, 18th, 23rd, 33rd and 26th, in fields of 64 cyclists.

McMullen ninth at Canadian Jr. cycling

EDMONTON, Alta. - Jayden McMullen placed ninth in the road race at the Canadian Cycling junior road championships, June 23-26. The 17-year old from St. Thomas, who rides with KW Academy, also finished 13th, in the men's criterium.
Teammate Alex Fangeat, of St. Thomas, was fifth, in the junior women's criterium and 21st, in the road race Eve Buczkowski, of St. Thomas, with Attack Racing, placed 11th, in the junior women's criterium race and 16th, in both the road race and the individual time trial. Brody Mann, of St. Thomas, also with Attack Racing, finished 22nd, in the junior men's criterium, 23rd in road race and 26th, in the time trial.

Fangeat wins Elite women's criterium road race

LONDON, Ont. - Alexandra Fangeat placed first in the women's division at the Ontario Cycling OffTheFront Summer Classic Criterium road race July 23. Jeff Schiller of St. Thomas, was the overall combined Elite 1&2 / Master 1 men's winner, with Andrew Buczkowski of St. Thomas, placing fifth. Buczkowski was the top Master 1 men finisher. Jayden McMullen of St. Thomas, a Grade 12 student at St. Joseph's high school, finished seventh overall in the men's division. Eve Buckowski, daughter of Andrew, placed 12th overall among women, third in Elite 3. Brody Mann of St. Thomas, 16, was third in Elite 3 men, while his dad, Marten, was 14th in Elite 3 men.

McMullen rides to Speedway Stage gold

DELAWARE, Ont. - Jayden McMullen won the Endurance Grade A/B race and captured silver in the Enduro Grade A/B race, at the Speedway Stage Races May 22 at Delaware Speedway The 17-year old from St. Thomas rides with KW Academy, from Kitchener-Waterloo. The cycling races took place on surfaces usually for motor vehicle racing, first at Flamboro Speedway on May 21 and then Delaware Monday. Brody Mann, of St Thomas, with Attack Racing, won silver in both the Enduro and Endurance A/B races at Flamboro. At Delaware, Mann took silver in the Endurance Grade A/B race and bronze in the Enduro Grade A/B race. Alex Fangeat, with KW Academy, was fifth in the Endurance Grade A/B race at Flamboro and ninth, in the race at Delaware. Eve Buckowski, Attack Racing, placed seventh in the Enduro A/B race at Flamboro and 14th, at Delaware. Thomas Fangeat of St. Thomas, with KW Academy, in Grade C, won the Endurance race took silver in Enduro at Flamboro. Thomas settled for silver in both races at Delaware.

St. Thomas cyclists win Ontario Cup road races

BRADFORD, Ont. - Jayden McMullen (photo) and Alex Fangeat started the road cycling season with a gold medal. The St. Thomas cyclists riding with KW Cycling Academy, won their respective divisions at the Hendersen Classic road race, the first event of the Ontario Cup season. McMullen won the E3 (Elite three) men's title, completing a 93.6-kilometre route in two hours, 23 minutes and 43 seconds.
Fangant was the E3 women's 70-km race winner. Eve Buckowski of St. Thomas, with Attack Racing out of London, placed fourth in the E3 women's race. Brody Mann of St. Thomas, also with Attack Racing, was 19th in the E3 men's race.

McMullen 20th at gravel Canadians

ANCASTER, Ont. - Jayden McMullen placed 20th overall at the Paris to Anacaster cycling race, the first Canadian Gravel championships April 29. The 17-year old from St. Thomas was third in his age division, male 17-18 years old, finishing the 108.9-kilometre route, in three hours and 11 minutes and 20 seconds. Alex Fangeat, of St. Thomas, was 357th overall, sixth in the female 17-18 years old division. Both cyclists train with KW Cycling Academy and attend St. Joe's high school.

Cycling trio ride to multi gold at Nationals

BROMONT, Que. - Eve Buczkowski, Alexandria Fangeat and Brody Mann are Canadian champions. The three cyclists from St. Thomas, riding with Team Ontario, combined to win 11 gold medals at the Canadian track cycling U17 championships, March 31-April 2 at the Bromont Velodrome. Buczkowski won gold in the U17 women's five kilometre scratch race, 500-metre time trial and keirin, took bronze in the two kilometre pursuit and finished fourth in the elimination race and fifth in the points race. Fangeat won three races, the pursuit, points and elimination and finished third in the scratch race and the 500-metre time trial.  Mann won the U17 men's 7.5-kilometre scratch race and with Antoine Bergeron, Jake Mclean and Maxim Wojiechowksi, won Ontario gold in team pursuit. Mann also placed fourth in both the men's pursuit and the points races and eighth in the elimination final.

Three local cyclists at Nationals

BROMONT, QC. - Three cyclists from St. Thomas are at the Canadian U17 track championships starting today at the velodrome. Eve Buczkowski, Brody Mann and Alex Fangeat, are with Team Ontario at the three day National event. Mann is part of Team Ontario's men's pursuit team. Buczkowski and Fangeat are both on the women's pursuit team and sprint team. At the recent provincial championships, Fangeat won the U17 women's points race, tempo race, scratch race and pursuit final. Buczkowski took gold in the U17 500-metre time trial and keirin. Mann took silver in both the U17 men's pursuit final and scratch race.

Buckzkowski U17 women's provincial champ

Milton, Ont. - Eve Buczkowski won double gold at the Ontario track cycling provincial championships, this weekend at the Mattamy Cycling Centre. The 14-year old from St. Thomas won the U17 women's 500 metre time trial and keirin. Riding for Attack Racing out of London, Buczkowski also captured silver in the U17 women's pursuit final and points race. Alexandra Fangeat, of St, Thomas, with Kitchener-Waterloo (KW) Cycling Academy, won four gold, the U17 women's points race, tempo, scratch and pursuit final. The St. Joseph's Grade nine student also took silver in the elimination, 500-metre time trial and Keirin. Brody Mann, of St. Thomas, also with Attack Racing, won silver in both the U17 men's pursuit final and scratch race and bronze medals for the tempo race and elimination.

Two cyclists medal at Eastern Challenge

MILTON, Ont. - Eve Buczkowski and Brody Mann, both brought home four medals from the Ontario Cup Eastern Challenge track cycling, February 10-12, at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre. Buczkowski, from St. Thomas, finished third in both the U17 women's 500-metre time trial and points race. The 14-year old also won gold medal in U17 team pursuit and team sprint. Brody Mann, also from St. Thomas, finished second in the U17 men's individual pursuit and third in the U17 men's temp race. As well, Mann was part of the winning U17 men's team pursuit and silver medal winning team sprint.

Four top 10s for Buckowski

ST. THOMAS - Brittany Howard shined at the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) All-Star weekend, at the Mattamy Athletic Centre, in Toronto. The 27-year old from St. Thomas had a goal and three assists, plus a shootout winner, sharing the lead for most points at the event. In the final, Howard had a goal and an assist, as the Canadian All-Stars beat the World All-Stars, 3-2, January 25.
Cyclist Eve Buckowski has four top 10 races in Quebec.

Buczkowski four top 10 finishes

BROMONT, Que. - Eve Buczkowski posted four top 10 results at an U19 women's track cycling event, at the Bromont National Cycling Centre velodrome. Buczkowski, from St. Thomas, a first year U17 rider, was third, in the opening Scratch race, fifth, in the Kerin, sixth, in the Elimination and fourth, in the final scratch race. Brody Mann, also from St. Thomas, finished second, in the junior men's scratch qualifier, third, in the scratch final and sixth, in the elimination race.

MILTON, Ont. - Eve Buczkowski, of St. Thomas, won the B women tempo five-km race and elimination race and took home silver in the B women points race and scratch final, a 20-kilometer race, at Ontario Cycling's track series event two, at the Mattamy National cycling centre.

Mann London race series medalist

LONDON, Ont. - Brody Mann, who rides with Attack Racing, finished third overall for Junior men, for the London Centennial Wheelers' 2022 race series. The 15-year old cyclist from St. Thomas, placed first overall for road races in the B category.

McMullen wins provincial U17 cyclo-cross race

LONDON, Ont. - Jayden McMullen swept the gold medals in the top division, at the Youth Cup summer criterium cycling races. The 16-year old from St. Thomas, riding with KW Cycling Academy, won three races - time trials, skills time trials and criterium, in the Grade A division, July 9, in London. The event featured four grades, A to E, with the top grade having the longer distances. Brody Mann, of St. Thomas, won the Grade B criterium race. Eve Buczkowski, also from St. Thomas, won the Grade C criterium race.

McMullen wins provincial U17 cyclo-cross race

ST. THOMAS - Prior to the race, a podium finish wasn't on the mind of Jayden McMullen. Starting from the back of the pack, the 15-year old from St. Thomas, competing with K-W Cycling Academy, was only hoping his bike would survive the rigors of the U17 course, at the Ontario Cycling Association Cyclo-cross provincial championships last month.
