Dolphins cook turkey twice

PORT STANLEY, Ont. - The Dorhester Dolphins improved to 5-1-1 with a pair of wins to go with their turkey dinners. Josh Short scored mid third period on the power play, for the game winner tonight, edging the Port Stanley Sailors, 4-3.
Logan Corbeil, Jarrett Humphries and captain Paterson MacNair, also scored for the 'Phins. Tristan Gerth picked up two assists. Dylan Watson with two goals, and Tyson Benwell, replied for the Sailors. Logan Matos had two assists.
On home ice Friday, the Dolphins blanked Petrolia, 3-0, with goalie Deklan Jermol making 24 saves for the shutout. Corbeil twice and Gerth netted pucks, with MacNair picking up two helpers.
Dorchester is third in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division, behind first place Thamesford (8-0-0) and North Middlesex (7-1-0).

Shearer leads Dolphins

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Nicholas Shearer scored twice and Dylan Bradburn collected four assists as the Dorchester Dolphins doubled up the Aylmer Spitfires, 4-2. Aylmer led 2-1 late into the second period on goals by Theoren Morrison and Cohen McQueen. Shearer tied the game with two minutes left in the second period. Josh Short gave the Dolphins their first lead of the game, scoring on the power play eight minutes into the third period. Shearer added insurance. Paterson MacNair also scored for the Dolphins, who improve to 3-1-1 in the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

Dolphins split opening games

DORCHESTER, Ont. - The Dorchester Dolphins are similar to a freshly painted car waiting for its clear coat. Lacking a finishing touch. On the opening weekend to the Provincial Junior Hockey League season, the Dolphins did pick up three points, doubling up on the Aylmer Spitfires, 4-2, Sunday at Aylmer, after dropping their home opener, 2-1, in overtime, to the Lucan Irish, Friday at the Flight Exec Centre.

New coach for Dolphins' 11th season

DORCHESTER, Ont. - A new head coach and new captain lead the Dorchester Dolphins into their 11th season in junior hockey. The Dolphins hit the ice for the 2023-24 Provincial Junior Hockey League season, hosting the Lucan Irish. Chris Willsie, one of the team's owners, is the man behind the bench, with long time assistant coach Chris Masse and first year assistant, Bob Leeming. Mark Steele remains as general manager.

Hawks' OT win ends Dolphins season

DORCHESTER, Ont. - A third period rally wasn't enough for the Dorchester Dolphins. The Dolphins rallied from down 2-0 sending the game into overtime, but the Exeter Hawks replied in extra time. Keagan Lavigne scored five minutes into overtime for a 3-2 win, giving the Hawks a four games to two series win. Ryan Gibbings and Sam Dupuis put the Hawks up. Jack Uniac and Josh Short, on the power play and goalie Deklan Jermol pulled, for a six-on-four advantage, with a minute and 11 seconds remaining in the third period.

Road win keeps Dolphins alive

EXETER, Ont. - The Dorchester Dolphins remain alive. Paterson MacNair scored twice, including the game winner, and assisted on Jordan Daer's goal, to lead the Dolphins to a 5-2 win tonight, extending the series to a sixth game. Exeter leads the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division series, three games to two, having won game four, 2-1. The Hawks opened the scoring before Bryce Darville and Nicolas Shearer gave the Dolphins a 2-1 lead in the first period. Dorchester had a 3-2 advantage after 40 minutes. The Dolphin had their best disciplined game, taking only two minor penalties. Game six is Saturday in Dorchester. Game seven, if necessary, back at Exeter Sunday.

Hawks bite back for 2-1 lead

EXETER, Ont. - Following a 9-0 rout 24 hours earlier the Exeter Hawks bit back tonight with a 5-1 win over the Dorchester Dolphins. Cale Johnstone, Sam Dupuis and Chase Wedlake, each had a goal and one assist. Jack McDonald on the power play and Connor Aarts shorthanded also scored for the Hawks. Paterson MacNair broke the shutout with a minute remaining in the third period. Three of the five Hawks' goals came on the power play and the home side had a five on three opportunity twice.
"A lot on our selves taking selfish penalties. We had great chances tonight but were in the box too much to get any flow," Dolphins' head coach Mark Steele said. "We should've took momentum into Exeter. Give them credit. They came out hungrier."
The Hawks lead the best of seven PJHL division quarterfinal, two games to one.

Shearer strikes twice tying series

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Nicholas Shearer was a sniper shorthanded while rookie Evan Sawyer made his arrival. Both Shearer and Sawyer, along with Josh Short, scored twice, as the Dorchester Dolphins routed the Exeter Hawks, 9-0, to even the PJHL Yeck division quarterfinal at one game each. Scoreless after one period, the Dolphins struck six times in the middle frame, highlighted by back to back unassisted shorthanded goals from Shearer. Captain Dylan Vandersleen, Jordan Daer and Tage Gallant, completed the scoring. Daer and Austin Connors had two assists each. Goalie Deklan Jermol made 30 saves for his first career playoff shutout in junior. 
Exeter opened the best of seven game series, with a 3-2 win Friday.

Dolphins aim for solid playoff run

DORCHESTER, Ont. - For the Dorchester Dolphins the 2022-23 regular season started off and finished strong. It was the stretch in between that left the junior hockey team stuck floating around a .500 record in the middle of their division standings. The Dolphins finish fifth in the Yeck Division, with a 20-15-3-1 record (one game cancelled) and without home ice for the opening round of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) playoffs. Dorchester faces the fourth place Exeter Hawks, in a best of seven game series.

Short completes hat trick in OT

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Josh Short completed a hat trick scoring six and half minutes in to overtime, with his team leading 23rd goal of the season, to lift the Dorchester Dolphins over the Port Stanley Sailors, 5-4. Short had the final three goals for Dorchester, tying the game at three before givng the home side, a 4-3 advantage. Sailors' Trent Clinton sent the game to OT, knotting the score with 13 seconds remaining in regulation time. Dorchester led 2-0, on goals by Evan Sawyer and Cooper Kilbourne. Port took a a 3-2, with Kam Korab, Devon Kaplanis and Liam Kidder, scoring within a six minute span.

Captain leads Dolphins

PORT STANLEY, Ont. - Dylan Vandersleen scored twice to lead the Dorchester Dolphins pass the Port Stanley Sailors, 5-3, tonight along Lake Erie's north shore. The Dolphins' captain's shorthanded marker tied the game at two in the final minute of the opening period, after the Sailors led 2-0 early. Josh Short, with his team leading 20th and Paterson MacNair, both had a goal and an assist. Austin Connors also scored for the Dolphins. Dylan Watson, with his team high 16th goal, Aiden Shaw and Kasy Anderson, bulged twine for the Sailors. Port out shot Dorchester, 39-36. Vandersleen has four goals and three assists in his past eight games, after missing a month of the season due to injury. Dorchester (16-13-3-1) is fifth, in the Provincail Junior Hockey League Yeck division, while Port (12-15-2-3) sits seventh.

Stuck in the middle

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Stuck in the middle. That may describe the Dorchester Dolphins' position in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division standings. With eight games remaining in the regular season, the Dorchester Dolphins sit in fifth place, trailing the fourth place Exeter Hawks, by 10 points. The Dolphins picked up three of a possible four points over the weekend at home, doubling up on the Lucan Irish, 6-3, Friday, before falling to the Mt Brydges Bulldogs, 4-3, in OT.

DORCHESTER, Ont. - All the Dorchester Dolphins want for Christmas is a healthy line-up. Following a fourth loss in six outings, to the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, 5-1, Sunday, the Dolphins have slipped to sixth place in the Yeck Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League. Heading into the Christmas break, the Dolphins are below .500, at 11-12-1-1, with 24 points, nine out of fourth place, and 14 points back of first place Thamesford.

Dolphins split to hover over 500

DORCHESTER, Ont. - The Dorchester Dolphins continue to hover over the .500 mark. The Dolphins split a pair of home games this weekend, losing to the North Middlesex Stars, 4-3, Friday, before doubling up on the Aylmer Spitfires, 4-2, Saturday, in the Provincial Junior Hockey League. Dorchester remains in fifth place in the Yeck Division, with a 10-9-1-1 record. Aylmer sits in the basement, winners of just two games in 22 outings. Nicholas Shearer, with his 11th goal of the season, Dylan Bradburn, Josh Short and Austin Connors, scored against Aylmer, on Warm and Wooly Toss nighht. Defenceman Jordan Daer picked up three assists. Noah Sabourin and Landen Den replied for the Spitfires. Against North Middlesex, Short, Paterson MacNair, with his 11th goal of the campaign and Eugene Spanier, had the Dolphins leading 3-2 late in the third period. Two power play goals in the final four and half minutes lifted the Stars to victory.

Dolphins snap six game slide

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Two streaks were halted this night. The Dorchester Dolphins snapped a six game losing skid, defeating the Port Stanley Sailors, 6-2, ending their three win streak, Sunday. Tied at two mid second period, the Dolphins scored four unanswered goals. Jordan Daer had two goals and Paterson MacNair picked up four assists, to lead the Dolphins, to their first win since October 21. Nicholas Shearer, Tyler Taplay, Jakob Marche and Jarrett Humphries, rounded out the home team goal scoring. Hunter Gilchrist and Logan Matos, replied for the Sailors. The win keeps the Dolphins above .500, with a record of 8-7-1-0. The Sailors slide to 5-7-0-1.

Dolphins drop third consecutive game

PARKHILL, Ont. - The Dorchester Dolphins have fallen on hard times. The Dolphins suffered a three consecutive loss, losing to the North Middlesex Stars, 6-2. Dorchester has dropped four of their past five games, in the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL), sliding to fourth place in the Yeck Division standings with a 7-5-0-0 record. The host Stars jumped out to leads of 2-0 and 3-1. Jordan Daer and Nicholas Shearer, scored for the Dolphins. Jake Weston led the Stars with a hat trick.

Stars shine late stealing win

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Victory looked promising for the Dorchester Dolphins late in the third period. However, the North Middlesex Stars struck three times in the final five minutes, stunning the home team, 5-4, in Provincial Junior Hockey, at the Flight Exec Centre. Josh Short, with his second goal of the game, gave the Dolphins a 4-2 lead, with just over seven minutes to go in the final frame. The Stars pulled to within one two minutes later, tied the game at the 18:42 mark and took the lead 40 seconds later. Stars' Brayden Hessels scored once and picked up four assists. Nicholas Shearer, Lukas Geske, also scored for the 'Phins. Ian Lutowicz, with two goals and two assists, Pryce Vafiades and Ryan Marshall, with the winner, completed the Stars' tallies. Dorchester slips to 5-2-0, while North Middlesex remains undefeated at 6-0-0.

Spitfires' lead gone in 60 seconds

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Two goals in a minute turned the fortunes of the Dorchester Dolphins. Paterson MacNair and Nicholas Shearer, scored 60 seconds apart, with under eight minutes remaining in the third, lifting the Dolphins over the Aylmer Spitfires, 5-4, in Provincial Junior Hockey. Aylmer held a 4-3 lead, thanks to their own two goals in a minute outburst, early in the third. Tyler Rennie and Hudson Andrews scored 46 seconds apart The Dolphins led 3-2 after 40 minutes, on goals by Shearer, Austin Connors, on the power play and Curtis Nogueira. Shearer and Nogueira, both had three point games. Noah Melady and Carson Appleford, also scored for the 'Spits. Dorchester out shot their guests, 50-38.

Captain saves Dolphins from blown lead

DORCHESTER, Ont. - The captain lifted his team to victory. Dylan Vandersleen scored with under five minutes to go in the third period, lifting the Dorchester Dolphins pass the Lucan Irish, 5-4, in Provincial Junior Hockey.
Dorchester led 4-1 mid third period, before Lucan struck three times in just under four minutes, tying the affair. Nicholas Shearer with two goals and Paterson MacNair, also scored for the home side.

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Jarrett Humphries and Jakob Marche, each scored twice, while Austin Connors, had a goal and an assist, as the Dorchester Dolphins thumped Exeter Hawks, 8-2, in Provincial Junior Hockey action. Curtis Nogueira, Lukas Geske and Paterson MacNair, also scored for the 'Phins. Dorchester's power play strikes three times, while the penalty killers don't allow a goal but score one. A shorty from Humphries and two power play goals help build a 4-0 lead.

Spitfires down Dolphins

AYLMER, Ont. - Noah Melady scores twice and Ben Weejes has a goal and an assist as the Aylmer Spitfires defeat Dorchester Dolphins, 4-1, in the Provincial Junior Hockey League action this afternoon. Tyler Rennie for the Spits and Josh Short for the 'Phins, also score. Aylmer out shot Dorchester, 40-19. The Dolphins came up empty on five power play opportunities.

Dolphins look to return to league final

DORCHESTER, Ont. - It is the annual preseason goal every year in Dorchester. Since missing the goal for the past two seasons, the Dorchester Dolphins are hungrier, perhaps more than ever in the club's 10 year existence, to return to the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division final. Last season, one greatly affected by the COVID pandemic, the Dolphins were eliminated by the Thamesford Trojans for the second consecutive season (2021 was cancelled) in the playoffs. Dorchester had been to eight consecutive finals, winning three times, the last title in 2017. The Dolphins opened the 2022-23 season at home, shutting out the Petrolia Flyers, 7-0, Friday. Patterson MacNair and Curtis Nogueira both scored twice.

Trojans push Dolphins closer to golf season

DORCHESTER, Ont. - With warmer weather and spring coming this weekend, golf courses will be preparing to open. That is not the place the Dorchester Dolphins want to be playing at Monday morning.
It will be the location, unless the Dolphins can regroup in their playoff series against the Thamesford Trojans. The Trojans jumped out to a 4-0 lead and then held on for a 4-3 game five victory over the Dolphins, Friday, in Dorchester, taking a three games to two lead in the Provincial Junior Hockey Yeck Division quarterfinal.

Trojans tie series

THAMESFORD, Ont. - It is now a best of three between local rivals the Dorchester Dolphins and Thamesford Trojans. Gage Argue had a goal an assist and Owen Kernohan scored while shorthanded, as the Trojans evened the best of seven affair with a 4-2 win.
Logan Corbiel and Quinn Wenger had the 'Phins up 2-1 early third period. Then Kernohan struck shorthanded and Topp put the Trojans up with less than six minutes left in the third. Argue found the empty net. Roj Abdullah also scored for the Trojans, who had trailed in the series two games to none. The PJHL Yeck Division quarterfinal continues Friday at Dorchester.

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Nearing the mid point of the game, all signs pointed to the Dorchester Dolphins taking a stranglehold of the series. The Thamesford Trojans had other ideas. Short lifts Dolphins to OT win

THAMESFORD, Ont. - Josh Short scores twice, including the overtime winner, lifting the Dorchester Dolphins over the Thamesford Trojans, 2-1, tonight. The 'Phins lead the PJHL Yeck Division series, 2-0, with game three in Dorchester, 7 p.m. Sunday.
Curtis Topp had the Trojans' goal. Dolphins' goalie Jackson Mailloux made 46 saves, as Thamesford out shot their guests by 10 shots. Short has four goals in two games. Caleb Haalstra and Bryce Darville, picked up assists on Short's first goal, that gave the Dolphins a 1-0 lead.

DORCHESTER, Ont. - It has been a vital weapon for the Dorchester Dolphins all season. The power play, one the best in the entire league, came through for the Dolphins big time, providing two goals, in a 3-2, win against the Thamesford Trojans, in game one of their PJHL Yeck Division quarterfinal. Trailing 2-1, after 40 minutes, Josh Short struck twice with the man advantage in the third period. Jakob Marche gave the Dolphins a 1-0 lead in the first period. Gage Argue, on the power play and Carter Chard, gave the Trojans a 2-1 advantage in the second period.

Dolphins open first round against Trojans

DORCHESTER, Ont. - It is a local rivalry to kick off the post season. The Dorchester Dolphins take on the Thamesford Trojans, in the opening round to the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division playoffs. Game one, of the best of seven series, is Friday, at Dorchester, 7:30 p.m. It's a rematch of the last time the team met in the playoffs, the last time there were playoffs, back in 2020, when the Trojans eliminated the Dolphins in the semifinals.

Small and Cecchi's two point games help Dolphins win

LUCAN, Ont. - Noah Small and Michael Cecchi, each had a goal and one assist, as the Dorchester Dolphins edged the Lucan Irish, this afternoon. Cecchi broke a 2-2 with under five minutes remaining in the third period.
Nicholas Shearer gave the Dolphins a 2-1 lead, early second period. Brayden Dwyer and Owen Peters, tied the game for Lucan. Dorchester finishes the regular season in fourth place in the PJHL Yeck Division, with a 16-11-2-1 record.

Marche caps Dolphins comeback with OT winner

THAMESFORD, Ont. - Jakob Marche scored a minute and 27 seconds in to overtime, completing a 4-3 comeback win for the Dorchester Dolphins against the Thamesford Trojans.
The Trojans led 3-1 early in the second period on three consecutive goals from Owen Kernohan, Jared Caldarozzi and Cooper Brabrook.
Dorchester captain Braidon Duncan pulled his team back to within a goal mid second period. Dylan Vandersleen knotted the affair in the third. Curtis Nogueira gave the Dolphins, a 1-0 lead four minutes in to the game.
Marche leads the Dolphins with 15 goals. Nicholas Shearer has two assists, while Duncan, Vandersleen and Nogueira, also each drew an assist.
Dorchester moves one point ahead Thamesford in the PJHL Yeck division, with a 14-11-2-1 record.

Dolphins win third straight game shredding Hawks

DORCHESTER, Ont. - The Dorchester Dolphins are coming in to shape in time for the playoffs. Seven different players buried pucks in to the net, as the Dolphins thumped the first place Exeter Hawks, 7-0, for a third straight win.
The Dolphins led 3-0 after one period and doubled the count in the second period. Quinn Wenger, Jakob Marche, Curtis Nogueira, Josh Short, Braidon Duncan, Dylan Van Dusen and Isaac Sturgeon scored.

Dolphins win first home game as play resumes

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Josh Short and Dylan Van Dusen both scored twice to lead the Dorcheter Dolphins to a 5-2 win against the Port Stanley Sailors. The victory snaps a four game losing streak, in front of fans who haven't seen their Dolphins since a 3-2 overtime loss to Thamesford on December 18. The last win at home was a 6-0 shutout of North Middlesex on Dec. 15. Dorchester is tied with Thamesford for fourth place, with a 13-11-2-1 record. Port sits seventh at 4-19-1-1.vision.

Dolphins not dwelling on record upon return

DORCHESTER, Ont. - The Dorchester Dolphins are returning to the ice. The Dolphins see their first action since before Christmas, when they travel to Exeter, Friday, February 4. Dorchester's first home game is February 18th.
When the league went on pause, the Dolphins had a record of 12-10-2-1, sitting in fourth place in the Yeck Division.

Argue gives win to Trojans over Dolphins in overtime

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Gage Argue scored three minutes and 12 seconds in to overtime, carrying the Thamesford Trojans to a 3-2 win, over the Dorchester Dolphins. Dylan VanDusen gave the Dolphins a 1-0 lead just two minutes in to the game. Owen Kernohan tied the score just 34 seconds later. Kyle Pizzey put the Trojans up 2-1, in the second period. The lead lasted just three minutes, when Caleb Haastra knotted the affair on the power play, with Van Dusen drawing an assist. Thamesford moves one point ahead of Dorchester in to third place in the PJHL Yeck Division. Exeter leads the way with 34 points, followed by Mt. Brydges with 31 points.

Capirchio hat trick give 'Dogs bite to beat 'Phins

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Joe Capirchio netted a hat trick to lead the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs over the Dorchester Dolphins, 4-3, tonight. Brayden Smith with two goals and Isaac Sturgeon, with his 10th of the campaign scored for the 'Phins. Dylan Vandersleen assisted on both tallies. Noah Bruinink had a shorty for the 'Dogs. The teams combined for five power play goals. Dorchester remains tied with Thamesford, for third place, with 12-9-1-1 records, five points behind Mt. Brydges and eight back of Exeter.

Dolphins snap winless streak

DORCHESTER, Ont. - The Dorchester Dolphins snapped their four game winless streak. Dylan Vandersleen scored shorthanded and assisted on three other goals in the Dolphins' 6-0 blanking of the North Middlesex Stars, tonight at the Flight Exec Centre.
Nicholas Shearer, with two goals, Caleb Haalstra, Jakob Marche, with his team leading 14th and Tyler Rennie, with his first, completed the goal scoring. Goalie Jackson Mailloux made 36 saves for the shutout.
Dorchester and Thamesford sit tied in third place in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Conference with 12-8-1-1 records.

Two losses has Dolphins sliding down to fourth place

DORCHESTER, Ont. - It was rough weekend for the Dorchester Dolphins. The Dolphins lost to both the Lucan Irish on the road Saturday and to the North Middlesex Stars, Friday on home ice.
Now on a three game losing streak, the Dolphins have slid to fourth place in the PJHL Yeck Division with an 11-8-1-1 record. Dorchester is 3-6-1 in their past 10 games. A five goal explosion in the second period, broke open a close 2-1 game and carried Lucan to a 9-3 win. Gordan Kean, Isaac Sturgeon and Jakob Marche with his team leading 13 goal of the season, scored for the Dolphins. At Dorchester Friday, North Middlesex jumped out to a 3-0 lead and led 4-1 after two periods, on their way to a 8-2 win. Marche and Nick Andrews scored for the Dolphins.

DORCHESTER, Ont. - In a first place show down the Exeter Hawks arrived as a hungry kettle. Hawks' Braeden McNaughton and Jaeden French scored first period goals and had the Dorchester Dolphins chasing all game, on way to a 4-2 win for the visitors.
Josh Short put the Dolphins on the board 72 seconds in to the second period with his 10th goal of the season. That goal sent stuffed animals into the air for the Dolphins' Teddy Bear Toss game. The Hawks calmed the home crowd making 3-1 five minutes later.

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Two goals in 13 seconds sent the Dorchester Dolphins on way to their ninth victory of the season. Tied at one, Michael Cecchi and Quinn Wenger scored 13 seconds apart in the sixth minute of the second period, for a Dolphins' 3-1 lead. PARKHILL, Ont. - Jakob Marche scores his second goal of the game, his team leading 11th, to lift the Dorchester Dolphins to a 6-5 overtime win, tonight against the North Middlesex Stars. Dylan Van Dusen had a goal and two assists, including on the OT winner. Ryan Poley, Josh Short and Brayden Smith, each had a goal and one assist. Marche, who also picked up an assist, leads the Dolphins with 21 points, on 11 goals and 10 assists. Short has nine goals and nine assists.
Dorchester led 2-0 before the Stars scored four goals in a row. The home team led 5-3 after two periods.

Lucan hands Dolphins second loss in three games

DORCHESTER, Ont. - Two first period goals were enough tonight as the Lucan Irish edged the Dorchester Dolphins, 2-1. Keegan Nethercott and Riley Kiriakakos on the power play, scored five minutes apart, in a period the Irish out shot the Dolphins, 18-11.
Jakob Marche sniped his eighth goal of the season for the Dolphins in the second period. Dolphins' goalie Liam McCarthy made 40 saves while his counterpart at the opposite end, Connor Latchford, made 37 stops.
The Dolphins have dropped two of their past three games and now share top spot with the Exeter Hawks with 16 points. Exeter does have a game in hand.

Dolphins hold off Bulldogs

DORCHESTER, Ont. - The Dorchester Dolphins blew a 4-0 lead, but held on to defeat the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, 6-4, in Provincial Junior Hockey action. Michael Cecchi, with his first goal, had the Dolphins up 4-0, 31 seconds into the second period.
But the Bulldogs responded with three goals over five minute span including scoring twice in 47 seconds, to pull within a goal. Jakob Marche, with two goals and two assists, Josh Short, with his team leading eighth goal of the season, Dylan VanDusen and Isaac Sturgeon, into an empty net, completed the Dolphins' scoring. Thomas Guidolin, with two goals, Joe Capirchio and Austin Murray, scored for the Bulldogs. Dorchester leads the Yeck Division with an 8-2-0-0 record.

Hawks feast on ending Dolphins' streak

DORCHESTER, Ont. -  The Dorchester Dolphins' seven win streak came to crashing halt. Jaeden French bagged a hat trick leading the Exeter Hawks to a 6-2 romp over the Dorchester Dolphins. The Hawks led 2-1 after one period and 5-2 after 40 minutes and out shot the Dolphins, 56-39, over the game. Bryce Darville and Isaac Sturgeon, both with their fifth goals of the season, scored for Dorchester. Chase Wedlake, Kevin Shuttleworth and Nick Bedard, completed the Hawks' scoring. The Dolphins had three APs in the line-up. Dorchester (7-2-0-0) holds on to top spot in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division, two points ahead of Exeter (6-2-0-0).

Darville trick treats Dolphins

LUCAN, ON. - Bryce Darville netted a hat trick to lead the Dorchester Dolphins to a seventh consecutive win. Darville scored shorthanded and twice on the power play as the Dolphins doubled up on the Lucan Irish, 8-4.
Dylan Vandersleen, Jakob Marche, Dylan Van Dusen, Brayden Smith and Gordon Kean, with the game winner, also scored for Dorchester. Vandersleen, Smith and Josh Short, each picked up two assists. The Dolphins with a 7-1-1 record sit a top the Yeck Division, in the Provincil Junior Hockey League.

Sharper Stars edge Dolphins in home opener

DORCHESTER, Ont. - The sharper team left with two points. A goal with three seconds remaining in regulation lifted the North Middlesex Stars over the Dorchester Dolphins, 4-3, in Provincial Junior hockey action, at the Flight Exec Centre.
The Dolphins had trailed 3-1 after two periods, before Jakob Marche tied the game with 1:07 to go in the third period. Perhaps catching home side off guard, Cameron Amos skated in to the Dolphins' zone and placed a perfect shot over goalie Liam MacCarthy. Trojans end Dolphins' streak of Yeck appearances

THAMESFORD, ON. - For the first time in the club's history, the Dorchester Dolphins won't be in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division final. The Thamesford Trojans ended the Dolphins' streak of seven consecutive finals, taking their semifinal four games to one. Spencer Mills and Cole Schnittiker scored, while goalie Ryan Gullage posted the shutout, tonight in a 2-0 series clinching win.

Trojans a win away from final

DORCHESTER, ON. - If the Dorchester Dolphins want to extend their streak of seven consecutive appearances in the PJHL Yeck Division final, three consecutive wins are required, after falling to to the Thamesford Trojans, 5-3, tonight. The Trojans take a three games to one lead and can win the series on home ice this Friday. Spencer Mills' second goal of the game, a buzzer beater to end the second period was the game winner. Ryan Tremblett, with two goals, including an empty netter with 39 seconds left in the third period and Cooper Brabrook, also scored for the Trojans. Win gives Trojans a 2-1 series lead

THAMESFORD, ON. - Three Five third period goals, two coming on the power play, carried the Thamesford Trojans passed the Dorchester Dolphins, 7-4, in game three of the PJHL Yeck Division semifinal.
The Trojans take a two games to one lead in the best of seven affair. Ryan Root, Isaac Boer-hersh, Dylan Van Dusen and Dylan Buckholz, scored for the Dolphins. Tyler Arndt with two goals, Cole Schnittiker, Cooper Brabrook, Ryan Tremblett, Luke Caldarozzi and Ray Robbins, netted pucks for the Trojans. The Trojans led 2-0 in the first period, before the Dolphins scored three in a row for 3-2 advantage after 40 minutes. Thamesford put the away the game with two power play goals in the final two minutes of the third period.

DORCHESTER, ON. - The captain took the reigns. Road wins keeping Dolphins in contention

DORCHESTER, ON. - Usually when a team is near the top of the standings it is due to their strong record on home ice. Not so for the top two teams in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division.
The Mt. Brydges Bulldogs and Dorchester Dolphins are one-two in the Yeck, in part to both teams having dominant road records. The Bulldogs and Dolphins are a combined 29-5-1-0 away from their rinks and only 18-14-0-0 at home. In the most recent meeting between the frontrunners, the Bulldogs defeated the Dolphins, 7-3, at the Flight Exec Centre, on January 3rd. The Dolphins rebounded the next night winning at Aylmer.

PAPORT STANLEY, ON. - Noah Small, Josh Short and Austin Bisschop each scored twice, as the Dorchester Dolphins blanked the Port Stanley Sailors, 11-0, in the Provincial Junior Hockey League. Ryan Poley, Ryan Root, Dylan Buckholz, Bryce Darville and Braidon Duncan, also scored. Root also picked up three assists. Liam McCarthy made 27 saves in net for the shutout. The Dolphins improve to 13-6-0-0 in the Yeck Division, while the Sailors remain winless after 21 games.

Waller and Small combine to silence Stars

PARKHILL, ON. - Goalie Matt Waller made 25 saves for his seventh career junior shutout and Noah Small had two goals and two assists, leading the Dorchester Dolphins to an 8-0 silencing of @the North Middlesex Stars, in Provincial Junior Hockey Yeck Division action. Ethan Whitmore, Dylan Van Dusen, Bryce Darville, Nick Schildroth, Brody Smith and Tristan Gerth, also scored.
It was the first goals of the season for Darville, Schildroth and Gerth. The Dolphins won their third game in a row, improving to 8-4-0-0.
Dylan Buckholz picked up one assist and leads the Dolphins in scoring with 25 points, on 13 goals and 12 assists, in 10 games. Buckholz sits third in scoring for the division, four points behind Jon Hopkins, of the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs. Smith has a team high 16 assists.

DORCHESTER - Goalie Matt Waller turned aside 45 pucks leading the Dorchester Dolphins past the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, 4-2, in Provincial Junior Hockey action.
Dylan Buckholz and Josh Short put the 'Phins up 2-0 in the first period. Noah Small and Dylan Van Dusen in to an empty net, sandwiched third period goals by Bulldogs' Austin Murray and Blake Griffiths.

LUCAN, ON. - Eight different goals scorers found the back of the net, as the Dorchester Dolphins dropped the Lucan Irish, 8-1, in Provincial Junior Hockey Yeck Division action.
Dylan Buckholz, Kalob Morgado, Noah Small, Ryan Poley, Rewdy Scott, Ryan Root, Austin Bisschop and Josh Short score. Scott, Brody Smith and Caden Faulkner, pick up two assists each.
Vasili Davakos had the lone Lucan goal. The Dolphins even their record at 2-2-0-0.

Smith's winner lifts Spitfires over Dolphins

DORCHESTER - Brayden Smith and Tommy Zufelt scored 1:11 apart mid third period, as the Aylmer Spitfires edged the Dorchester Dolphins, 5-4, in Provincial Junior Hockey Yeck Division action.
The Spitfires led 2-0 early before the Dolphins scored four consecutive goals, three coming with the man advantage. Aylmer made it 4-3 with a power play goal of their own, coming with 12 seconds left in the second period. Pete Vanderwyst, Connor Lacey and Myles Carlson, also scored for the Spitfires, now at .500, with a 3-3-0-0 record.
Austin Bisschop, with two goals, Brody Smith and Ryan Root replied for the Dolphins. Dylan Buckholz had three assists. At 1-2-0-0, it's a rare occurrence for the Dolphins to have a losing record.
The game had 67 minutes in penalties, but none in the third period. The Dolphins were three for nine, on the power play, while the Spitfires went one for seven.
Aylmer's Tanner Rickwood has been suspended for one game, related to a gross misconduct penalty in the second period.

Dolphins sink Sailors in PJHL home opener

DORCHESTER - No Rust was prevalent early on but after one period and a dousing of CLR by the coaches, the Dorchester Dolphins shook it off. After watching the rest of the Provincial Junior Hockey League in action for three weeks, the Dolphins finally hit the ice, sinking the Port Stanley Sailors, 10-1, in their season opener, Friday, at the Flight Exec Centre. Caden Faulkner had two goals and two assists in his Dolphins' debut, rookie Josh Short scored twice and defenceman Braidon Duncan, had a goal and three assists, as the home team broke out for nine goals over the second half of the game.

Hawks clinch Yeck Division title over Dorchester

DORCHESTER - For the second consecutive year, the Dorchester Dolphins have lost the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division final in five games.
Nick Overholt had the game winning goal as the Exeter Hawks held off Dorchester, 4-3, to win the Yeck championship, four games to one.
Exeter moves on face the Lakeshore Canadiens, in the PJHL Western Conference final.
With the Hawks, is St. Thomas native Derek Smith, the former captain of the Port Stanley Sailors and former Dolphin defenceman Nick Whitworth. Both players arrived in Exeter via trades in January.
The Dolphins have made the Yeck final, in each of their seven seasons, but are now 3-4 in the series, including losing to Lambeth a year ago.

DORCHESTER - It was a reversal of fortunes. In each of the first two games, the Exeter Hawks gained momentum by scoring twice within a minute, carrying them to victories for a two games to none lead in the series. In game three of the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division final, it was the Dorchester Dolphins' turn for two goals in less than 60 seconds. Nolan Blewett and Griffen Sinden scored 35 seconds apart, breaking a 1-1 tie, seven minutes into the second period. The Hawks did the feat again tonight in game two, erasing a Dolphins' 4-2 lead mid third period, with two goals in 41 seconds, before winning the game in overtime, 5-4. Exeter now leads the best of seven PJHL Yeck Division final, two games to none.
Dorchester had leads of 1-0, 3-1 and 4-2, on goals by Ryan Van Roestel, Nolan Blewett, Dylan Buckholz and Jovin Eterno. Jonathon Frook's unassisted power play goal was the winner, while Brad Watson and Max Bannon, tied the game four. Jon Baker and Jake Weston also tallied for the Hawks. The Dolphins were two for six on the power play and had killed off seven consecutive penalties until overtime.

DORCHESTER - Carter McLlwain's unassisted mid third period goal holds up as the game winner, lifting the Exeter Hawks over the Dorchester Dolphins, 5-4, in game one of the PJHL Yeck Division final.
Two goals in 52 seconds, by Derek Smith and Nick Sammons, mid second period, turned a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 Hawks' lead. The Dolphins held leads of 2-1 an 3-2. James Newland with two goals, Ryan Root and Noah Lambe scored for Dorchester.

THAMESFORD, ON. - When the penalty killing unit equals an opponent's entire goal production, the odds of winning a series are very high. McCarthy blanks Trojans again

DORCHESTER - Penalty killing and goalie Liam McCarthy. Two big reasons the Dorchster Dolphins lead their PJHL Yeck Division semifinal, three games to one over the Thamesford Trojans. McCarthy stopped all 42 shots for his second shutout of the series, 3-0. The 17-year old puck stopper owns a .986 save percentage in this series and it's well earned as the Trojans have out shot the Dolphins, 138 to 97. Dylan Buckholz and Nolan Blewett, both while shorthanded and Colin Capstick scored. Thamesford went zero for six on the power play and haven't scored with the man advantage in the series despite 19 total opportunities over the three games. The Dolphins have three shorthanded goals.

Van Dusen starts finishes rout of Trojans

THAMESFORD, ON. - Dylan Van Dusen opened and closed the scoring as the Dorchester Dolphins dumped the Thamesford Trojans, 7-2, in game two of the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division semifinal. In between Van Dusen's second and third goals of the playoffs, the teams combined for seven goals and 78 minutes of penalties.
Tied at one, a turning point in the Dolphins' favour was Nolan Blewett's goal 44 seconds into the second period, while the Trojans were on a five on three power play. Three minutes later Dylan Buckholz made it 3-1. James Newland, on the power play and Trojan Spencer Mills traded goals before the period expired, with Dorchester leading 4-2. Third period goals by Ryan Van Roestel, Noah Small and Van Dusen, put the game out of reach. Buckholz, Ryan Root and Griffen Sinden, each picked up two assists.
The Dolphins were one for nine with the man advantage and killed off all nine Trojan opportunities.
Brody Smith will gone for the remainder of the series, after being assessed an abuse of officials game misconduct in the last minute of the first period. Being his second such offence this season, that brings an automatic four game suspension.
Liam McCarthy's shutout streak ended at 76:36, when Trojan Liam Fayle scored. McCarthy was the busier goalie making 51 saves, as the Trojans out shot the Dolphins in each period and 53-36, for the game. en

DORCHESTER - The Dorchester Dolphins have the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs on the ropes. Nolan Blewett scored twice and Matt Waller made 26 saves as the Dolphins silenced the Bulldogs, 6-0, to take a three games to none lead in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division. The Dolphins exploded for three goals in a three minute span mid first period and at the time had more goals than the Bulldogs had shots on net. Dolphins pull out tense road win for 2-0 lead

MT. BRYDGES ON. - The Dorchester Dolphins held the lead three times, but not until Dylan Van Dusen scored with 30 seconds left in the third period did the 'Phins likely feel comfortable.
The Dolphins prevailed with a 6-4 win over the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, for a two games to none lead, in the best of seven Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division series.
Brody Smith, with his third of the playoffs, Nolan Blewett, Austin Bisschop, Griffin Sinden and Noah Small, also scored for Dorchester. Jovin Eterno and Ryan Van Roestel, both picked up two assists.
Ryan Hopkins led the 'Dogs with a goal and two assists. Matthew Caine, Daniel Stretton and Taylor Toth, completed the Mt. Brydges scoring. The home team was two for seven on the power play, while the visitors potted one from five opportunities.

DORCHESTER - Prior to the playoffs, Dorchester Dolphins' assistant coach Chris Masse stressed the coaching staff wanted the players to start games at puck drop not later on in the night.

Dolphins prepare to face the Bulldogs

DORCHESTER - For the second consecutive year the Dorchester Dolphins are facing the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs and the team with the best regular season record are hoping to let sleeping dogs lie.
On their way to finishing first in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division (31-9-0-0), the Dolphins won four of five regular season games against the Bulldogs who finished eighth (9-28-3-0).
The Bulldogs did win the final meeting on home ice, on January 18th, 3-2, but were only 2-7-0-1 over their final 10 games.

Two goals in a minute help Trojans edge Dolphins

THAMESFORD, ON. - Two goals in 30 seconds three minutes in to the second period proved the difference as the Thameford Trojans edged the Dorchester Dolphins, 3-2, in Provincial Junior Hockey League.
Braidon Duncan and Griffin Sinden had power play goals for the 'Phins. Chase Schnittker, Jared Caldarozzi and Tyler Arndt with the game winner, scored for the Trojans.
The Dolphins (31-8-0-0), already with first place secured in the Yeck Division, lose for just the seventh time this season. It's the second win for the Trojans against the division leaders, also handing the Dolphins their first loss of the season on October 5th. The Trojans (23-12-3-1) remain in a battle with Lambeth (23-12-1-2) and North Middlesex (23-12-1-3) for third place.

DORCHESTER - The Dorchester Dolphins are firmly in the driver's seat to clinch first place in the Yeck Division. Dolphins' Small completes hat trick in OT

EXETER, ON. - Noah Small completes his hat trick 20 seconds into overtime, to lift the Dorchester Dolphins over the Exeter Hawks, 6-5, in Provincial Junior Hockey League action.
Griffin Sinden with two goals and Turner Balasin also score for the 'Phins, now at 27-6-0-0 in first place in the Yeck Division and six points up on Exeter. Dylan Van Dusen picked up two assists, while Sinden also had a helper. Jovin Eterno and James Newland assisted on the game winner.
Exeter opened with a 2-0 lead on goals by Liam Melady and Jon Baker. Dorchester tied the game, before the Hawks moved ahead again, 3-2. The Dolphins scored three consecutive goals, before the Hawks replied with two to tie the affair. The teams meet again in Dorchester, on Thursday, January 17th.

DORCHESTER - It was a game with a playoff feel to it. Not surprising considering the post season is nearing and these two rivals have a history of meeting in the playoffs.
Ryan Root scored twice including the winner and one into an empty net and David Henshaw had a goal and an assist, as the Dorchester Dolphins improved to 26-6-0-0 in Provincial Junior Hockey League action, doubling up on the Lambeth Lancers, 4-2. Stars own Dorchester stretching win streak to seven games

PARKHILL, ON. - When the Dorchester Dolphins face the North Middlesex Stars, the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division leaders may literally be seeing stars.
North Middlesex beat Dorchester for a seventh consecutive game going back to last season following their 6-4 victory today, also snapping the 'Phins' eight game win streak.
Four of Dorchester's six losses this season have been to the Stars, outscored 21-11. The Dolphins last beat the Stars, on October 7, 2017, a 4-3 overtime win.
Dorchester and North Middlesex meet one final time this regular season, on January 20th, in Parkhill.

Dolphins win season high eighth in a row

DORCHESTER - Nolan Blewett scored his team leading 24th and 25th goals of the season and Braidon Duncan had a goal and two assists, as the Dorchester Dolphins won their eighth consecutive game downing the Lucan Irish, 8-2. The Dolphins improve to 26-5-0-0, tops in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division, five points ahead of the second place Exeter Hawks.
The Dolphins travel to Parkhill, to face the North Middlesex Stars on Sunday. The Stars have handed the Dolphins three of their five losses this season.

Blewett player of the month for December

DORCHESTER - Nolan Blewett is the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division player of the month for December. The Dorchester Dolphins forward had five goals and seven assists, in six games during the month. Among his goals were a shorty and three scored on the power play. Blewett leads the Dolphins with 23 goals and 22 assists in 30 games. The 21-year old has two hat tricks and four other games with two goals. Dorchester went 7-0-0-0 during December and tops the division heading into the New Year, with a 25-5-0-0 record.

Blewett hat trick leads Dolphins' blow up of Spitfires

DORCHESTER - Nolan Blewett's second hat trick of the season helped the Dorchester Dolphins shell the Aylmer Spitfires, 12-0, in PJHL Yeck Div action, at the Flight Exec Centre.
The Dolphins win their 24th game of the season and remain in first place, one point ahead of the Exeter Hawks, who beat Port Stanley 7-1. Dorchester does have one game in hand.
Blewett scored at even strength, shorthanded and on the power play. The 21 year old leads the Dolphins with 22 goals and 21 assists for 43 points. Ryan Root and Griffin Sinden both had two goals, while Ryan Van Roestel, Dylan Van Dusen, Noah Small, Turner Balasin and Jovin Eterno had singles. Sinden also picked up three assists, while Dylan Buckholz had two heplers.
Goalie Matt Waller made 26 saves for his fifth career shutout.

Eterno lifts Dolphins over Trojans in OT

DORCHESTER - Jovin Eterno ended an offensive affair 49 seconds in to OT, lifting the Dorchester Dolphins over the Thamesford Trojans, 6-5, in PJHL Yeck Division action. Each side overcame two goal deficits. The Dolphins in the first period down 2-0 and the Trojans in the second period trailing 4-2. Ryan Root completed his first career junior hat trick, tying the game at five for the Dolphins. James Newland and Noah Lambe, also scored for the 'Phins. Griffin Sinden assisted on the Dolphins' final four goals, while both Newland and Nolan Blewett both picked up two helpers. Chris Dimmers potted a hat trick for the Trojans, while Cole Schnittiker and Tyler Arndt had singles. Dorchester leap frogs Exeter in to first place in the division, with a 23-5-0-0 record.

Stuffies to the ice and pucks in the net

DORCHESTER - Once the stuffies were flying the Dorchester Dolphins were on their way. Turner Balasin tipped a Nolan Blewett point shot in to the Port Stanley Sailors' net, signalling the 400 spectators in attendance to start throwing, on Teddy Bear Toss night, Friday, at the Flight Exec Centre. Once the ice was cleared of stuffies destined for the Dorchester Food Bank, the Dolphins were firing pucks in to the Port Stanley net , adding three more goals in four minutes, for a 4-0 lead. Dylan Van Dusen scored twice, Jovin Eterno had a goal and two assists and goalie Matt Waller stopped all 19 pucks fired his way, as the Dolphins blanked the Sailors, 7-0.

DORCHESTER - Alex Pettipiece has arrived. The recently turned 18-year old Dorchester native potted a pair of goals for his hometown team, including the game winner, as the Dorchester Dolphins doubled up on the Lambeth Lancers, 4-2, in a meeting of the undefeated teams, in the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) Yeck Division. DORCHESTER - The Dorchester Dolphins' reign is over. The Lambeth Lancers are the new kings of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) Yeck Division, after blanking the Dolphins, 5-0, here in game five of the championship series. Dolphins charge back in Yeck final with 5-2 road win

LAMBETH, ON. - The Dorchester Dolphins have kept it a series. Five different marksmen scored, as the Dolphins defeated the Lambeth Lancers, 5-2, in game three of the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) Yeck Division final, cutting Lambeth's lead in the series, to two games to one. Brent House, Aidan Reid, Lucas Wilson, Ryan Poley and Dylan Buckholz scored for Dorchester. Nolan Blewett drew two assists, while House and Wilson, also had single helpers. Wilson is the Yeck's top playoff scorer with 23 points, on 11 goals and 12 assists. Blewett sits second, with 12 goals and nine assists for 21 points.
"We played well. All four lines were going," Dolphins' head coach Tim Flynn said. "We played with an edge. Finished checks and fore-checked them hard. We went to the net, created traffic and got some goals from rebounds."
Jonah Goodman and Andrew Chambers, replied for the Lancers, who lose on home ice for just the fourth time this season. It was role reversal from game two, in terms of the score and shots on net. Dorchester out shot Lambeth in game two, but lost 5-2. Tonight, the Lancers led the shot clock, 41-34, but Dolphins' goalie Riley Brown made 39 saves. Lambeth goalie Brock MacDonald suffers his first loss, regular season and playoffs combined, after a 26-0 run, including game one of the Yeck final. The Dolphins have the opportunity to turn the series around in about 24 hours. Game four is Monday, 8 p.m. in Dorchester.

Lancers edge Dolphins for game one of PJHL Yeck Division final

LAMBETH, ON. - The Lambeth Lancers made the first strike. Jonah Goodman' second goal of the game, coming on the power play 4:29 into the third period, held as the game winner, as the Lancers edged the Dorchester Dolphins, 3-2, in game one the Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) Yeck Division final, at Lambeth arena. Dorchester's Nolan Blewett had tied the game, just two minutes earlier, also with the man advantage. Colin Osler opener the scoring for the Dolphins, 2:36 into the opening period. Lambeth took a 2-1 lead by period's end, with Anthony Scattalon and Goodman scoring. A quiet game with just seven minor penalties in the game.
It is the third time in six years, Lambeth and Dorchester have met in the Yeck final. Lambeth won a seven game thriller in 2013, while the Dolphins avenged the series loss winning the title in 2014.
The Dolphins are two-time reigning Yeck Division champions and have eliminated the Lancers the past three seasons. Lambeth finished first in the regular season, while the Dolphins were third.

Newland hat trick leads Dorchester back to final with sweep of Exeter

DORCHESTER - An opportunity to three-peat is on the table. The Dorchester Dolphins, the reigning two-time Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) Yeck Division champions, will be going for a third consecutive title, following a four game sweep of the Exeter Hawks, in the semi-finals. Dorchester, making its sixth consecutive appearance in the final, will face the Lambeth Lancers.
Defenceman James Newland led the way with a hat trick and goalie Ryan Murray stopped all 27 shots, as the Dolphins blanked the Hawks, 4-0, in the clinching game.

Dolphins have command of series leading Exeter 3-0

EXETER, ON. - Only one team in the Yeck Division has played in the final for each of the past five seasons. The Dorchester Dolphins, only in their sixth season of existence, are one game away from making a sixth consecutive appearance. Thanks to a 4-2 win Sunday, the Dolphins lead the Exeter Hawks, three games to none, in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck semifinal.

Dolphins grab 2-0 series lead on Wilson's winner

DORCHESTER - Dylan Buckholz scored twice and assisted on a goal by Nick Whitworth, while Lucas Wilson had the game winner, as the Dorchester Dolphins defeated the Exeter Hawks, 4-2, taking a 2-0 lead in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division semifinal. Tied at two after 40 minutes, Wilson scored early third period, with Buckholz adding a empty netter in the last minute of the game. James Newland and Brent House, each picked up two assists. Jon Baker, while shorthanded and Ian VandenHeuvel, on the power play, scored for Exeter.

Wilson carries Dolphins to 5-3 win in semifinal opener

EXETER, ON. - A playoff monster thus far in the post season, Lucas Wilson scores twice and sets up both Nolan Blewett goals, including a shorthanded empty netter, carrying the Dorchester Dolphins over the Exeter Hawks, 5-3, in the opening game of their Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division semifinal. Dylan Buckholz also tallies for the Dolphins, while both Turner Balasin and Ryan Root, pick up 2 assists. Liam Melady with two goals and Alex Bishop, scored for the Hawks, who were two for seven on the power play. Wilson has seven goals and eight assists in six playoff games.

Dolphins take series in five games with wild 9-5 win

DORCHESTER - Tim Pieper's first game as team captain will be a memorable one. In a wild offensive shootout, the Dorchester Dolphins managed to finally tame the growl of the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, with a 9-5 win, clinching the Provincial Junior Hockey League series in five games, in front of crowd of 400 spectators, at the Flight Exec Centre. Ryan Root, Ryan Poley and Turner Balasin, each scored twice, with Dylan Buckholz, Andrew Bugeja and Dylan Van Dusen, having singles. Brent House and defenceman Nick Whitworth, both picked up three assists. Dorchester joins Lambeth waiting for second round opponents.

Dolphins take 3-1 series lead on Poley's winner

MT BRYDGES, ON. - Lucas Wilson continues to lead the Dorchester Dolphins. The veteran forward scored twice in a 5-2 game four win over the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, his fifth and sixth goals of the series the 'Phins now lead 3-1. Ryan Poley broke a 2-2 tie, three minutes into the third period, before Aidan Reid and Wilson, added insurance. Ryan Root gave the Dolphins a 1-0 lead, before Ryan Hopkins tied it up. Wilson made it 2-1, but Patrick Keogh replied for the Bulldogs. Wilson has six goals and four assists in the series. Game five is at Dorchester on Friday.

'Dogs bite back winning in OT

DORCHESTER - The stranglehold was on the table for the Dorchester Dolphins. The Mt Brydges Bulldogs however, jumped up and devoured it like an old bone, preventing the Dolphins from taking a commanding three games to none lead, in the best of seven Provincial Junior Hockey League series. Ryan Hopkins completed his hat trick, two minutes into overtime, giving the Bulldogs a 5-4 win and cutting the Dolphins' series lead in half, now at two games to one.

Dolphins rout Bulldogs in series opener

MT. BRYDGES, ON. - Dorchester Dolphins' head coach Tim Flynn wanted to see secondary scoring from his team entering the Provincial Junior Hockey League playoffs. His team came through in a 5-2 win over the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, with five different goal scorers. Nick Whitworth, Dylan Van Dusen, Nolan Blewett, Adam Priamo and Ryan Poley scored for the Dolphins. No points from the team's top line of Dylan Buckholz, Ryan Root and Brent House. Tanner Lafrance and Ryan Hopkins, scored for the Bulldogs, who were shut out on eight power play opportunities.
Dorchester takes a two games to none lead in the best of seven series.

Dolphins rout Bulldogs in series opener

DORCHESTER - Nolan Blewett and Dylan Buckholz both score twice, to lead the Dorchester Dolphins to a 7-2 win over the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, in game one of their best of seven Provincial Junior Hockey League first round series. Lucas Wilson, in his first game in over six weeks, due to a 10 game suspension, has a goal and three assists. Turner Balasin and James Newland also score for the 'Phins. Jake Watkins and Caleb Schyvenaars, replied for the Bulldogs, who had the game knotted at two after one period. Buckholz gave the Dolphins their first lead of the game, at 3-2, 19 seconds into the second frame. Wilson scored on the power play eight minutes later.

Dolphins meet Bulldogs in PJHL opening round

DORCHESTER - Tim Flynn will have an unusual view for the Provincial Junior Hockey League playoffs. The Dorchester Dolphins' head coach will look down his bench and see 18 regular players, healthy and ready for action. Dorchester meets the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs in the opening round, with game one, in Dorchester, 7:30 pm. Friday.

'Phins drop third straight to finish regular season

DORCHESTER - The Dorchester Dolphins have lost three consecutive games for first time in over three years, after falling to the Thamesford Trojans, 5-4, in the Provincial Junior Hockey League. Tonight's loss, the Dolphins' final regular season game, follows defeats at Exeter on Friday and to Lambeth, on January 27th. It is Dorchester's longest losing streak since dropping three in a row, in late 2014. Dylan Buckholz, with his Yeck Division leading 37th goal, Nolan Blewett, Christian Huff, Dylan Van Dusen scored for the 'Phins. Chris Dimmers scored twice for Thamesford, while Tristan Walsh, Kurtis White and Cody Clerc, had singles.
Dorchester (27-11-0-2) will face Mt Brydges (15-21-0-3), in the first round of the PJHL playoffs, while Thamesford (20-20-0-0) takes on North Middlesex (24-13-0-2).

Exeter nails down second spot edging Dolphins

EXETER, ON. - The Dorchester Dolphins will finish third in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division. Liam Melady scored twice in the second period, as the Exeter Hawks edged the Dolphins 2-1, to clinch second place. The visiting 'Phins did out shoot the Hawks, 52-27, but only Dylan Buckholz with his Yeck leading 36th goal, could beat Hawks' goalie Dane Gubbels. The Dolphins needed a win, to tie the Hawks in the standings, and make deciding second place come down to each team's final regular season game. The two teams will now complete the schedule on Saturday, with the results having no impact on the standings.

Lancers remove Dolphins from first place contention

DORCHESTER - An old rival prevented the Dorchester Dolphins from finishing first for a third consecutive season. The Lambeth Lancers eliminated the Dolphins from first place contention for this season in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division, with a 4-3 overtime win, at the Flight Exec Centre. Ray Robbins scored his second goal of the game, just 44 seconds into OT.

Dolphins' Bucky shows why he's an all-star

DORCHESTER - Dylan Buckholz showed why he was selected to the Yeck Division all-star team. The Dorchester Dolphins' centreman had three goals and three assists, in a 7-1 win over the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, in Provincial Junior Hockey League action. Defenceman James Newland joins Buckholtz on the all-star team.

DORCHESTER - If the Dorchester Dolphins were a car, they would be the one held together by duct tape, Bondo body filler and wire hangers. Due to the rash of injuries costing over 100 man games, the Provincial Junior Hockey League team has endured a season playing with a shortened bench or with several midget call-ups in the line-up, while attempting to finish first in the Yeck Division for a third consecutive season.

BRW line leads Dolphins to victory over Thamesford

DORCHESTER -  Dylan Buckholtz, Ryan Root and Lucas Wilson, combined for 12 points, carrying the Dorchester Dolphins to a 8-4 win, over the Thamesford Trojans. Root had two goals and two assists, while Buckholtz and Wilson, each had a goal and three assists. The Dolphins leap-frog the idle Lambeth Lancers, to land back in top spot of the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division, with a 19-6-0-1 record. David Henshaw, Zach Robertson, James Newland and Turner Balasin, also scored for Dorchester.

Dolphins regain top spot in the PJHL Yeck division

DORCHESTER -  Led by the best power play in the division, the Dorchester Dolphins are back in first place. Defenceman James Newland scored twice with the man advantage, the difference as the Dolphins edged the Lambeth Lancers, 2-1, at the Flight Exec Centre, in a game between the top two teams, in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division. The win leap-frogs the Dolphins over the Lancers to first place. The Dolphins' top ranked power play, operating at an incredible 30.9 per cent, was advantageous again a day later, producing two goals, in a 5-4 win, at Port Stanley.

AYLMER, ON. -  Opponents are learning the hard way, not to take penalties against the Dorchester Dolphins. As the top ranked power play, in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division, the Dolphins are cashing in over 31 per cent and that is a major reason for their 16-0-4-1 record.

Spitfires shoot down Dolphins' unbeaten streak

AYLMER, ON. -  The streak has been shot down. The Aylmer Spitfires became the first team in 45 regular season games, to defeat the Dorchester Dolphins, in the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division, with 6-4 win. Dorchester had not lost since their final regular season game for the 2015/16 season. The Dolphins went 39-0-1 last season and started this season off with three wins. Tied at one, the Spitfires exploded for four goals in the second period for a 5-1 lead. The Dolphins fought back in the third period, with three goals, but Spits' Connor Darville's goal with under four minutes remaining secured a win. Brayden Smith, Jake Morin, Tyler Hinde, James Collins and Dustin Dunlop, built the Spitfire lead after 40 minutes. Morin also had two assists. Dylan Buckholtz, with two goals, Carter Forget and Ryan Root, replied for the Dolphins. Brent House picked up three assists. Dorchester out-shot Aylmer, 36-30, including 13-4, in the third period.

Dolphins respond to mid game letdown

DORCHESTER -  Three goals in the late stages of the third period carried the Dorchester Dolphins, over the Lucan Irish, 7-4, in Provincial Junior Hockey League action, at the FlightExec Centre.
The Dolphins led 4-0, just four minutes in to the second period, with Ryan Root, Ryan Poley, Lucas Wilson and Brent House tallying. But the Irish fought back to even terms, by the five minute mark of the third. However, the Dolphins, who now haven't lost in 44 consecutive regular season games, scored three times in 4:38, as Dylan Buckholtz, with the game winner, Wilson and Dylan Van Dusen, buried pucks. Dolphins' defenceman Colin Osler, picked up three assists.

Dolphins hold off the Sailors in Port's home opener

PORT STANLEY, ON. -  Ryan Root's goal following a penalty kill proved to the be game winner, as the Dorchester Dolphins edged the Port Stanley Sailors, 5-4, in Provincial Junior Hockey League (PJHL) Yeck Division action here tonight. Root's goal mid way through the third period put the Dolphins up 5-3. Austin Muscutt pulled the Sailors to within one again with 43 seconds remaining in the game. Braedon Dorion scored twice for the Dolphins, who now are 2-0 on the season. Mike Tuffin and Brent House, completed the Dolphins goal scoring. Derek Smith, also with three assists, Brayden Latimer and Dawson Cook, scored for the Sailors, now at 1-1.

Dolphins silence Bulldogs with a 9-0 blitzing in home opener

DORCHESTER -  The Yeck Division champions have continued from where they left off last season. The Dorchester Dolphins went undefeated during the 2016/17 regular season (39-0-1), in the Provincial Junior Hockey League, winning several games by lop-sided scores. That trend has carried into the new season, at least for the Dolphins' home opener, with a 9-0 silencing of the Mt. Brydges Bulldogs, at the Flight Exec Centre. Lucas Wilson, Dylan Buckholtz and James Newland, each scored twice, while Nick Whitworth, Mike Tuffin and Brent House, had singles.
Braedon Dorion, on a line with Buckholtz and House, drew four assists. Goalie Riley Brown made 27 saves, for his fifth career PJHL regular season shutout (11th including playoffs).

Major changes for Dolphins entering PJHL 2017-18 season

DORCHESTER -  Fans of the Dorchester Dolphins will need a line-up card, when the 2017/18 Provincial Junior Hockey League season hits the ice. The Yeck Division champions undergone several changes, including a new coaching staff. Several well known players are gone, including the Dolphins' two top scorers from last season, Derek Todosichuk and Jay Ritchie, along with captain Tyler Blue, the Dolphins' longest serving player.
