   Parkside athletes win all of their events at the Mustang track & field meet

LONDON, ON. -  Led by Michael Roth and Arthur Stanat, the Parkside Stampeders opened their 2018 track and field season with 17 top 10 results at the Forest City Mustang Invitational, at TD Stadium.

 The Central Elgin Titans, East Elgin Eagles, Lord Dorchester Beavers and St. Joseph’s Rams, all had athletes in the top 10, during a day that had single digit temperatures and a cold, brisk wind.

Roth won the junior men’s 200 (23.61 seconds) and 400-metre (53.00 sec.) races and 300-metre hurdles (41.5 sec.), while Stanat took top spot in midget men’s shot put (13.41 metres) and discus (41.87m).

Jack Carlson finished second in the midget men’s 400 metres (55.8 seconds) and fifth in the 100 (12.35 sec.).

Zachary Copeland was second in junior men’s discus (44.58m), eighth in javelin (36.27m) and 15th, in shot put (10.17m).

Jared Parkin placed third in junior men’s shot put (12.86m) and fourth, in discus (41.12m).

 Samantha Brown, fourth, junior women’s 200m (29.25 sec.); Jackson Medeiros, fifth, senior men’s 110-metre hurdles (17.15 sec.); Joseph Gillespie, seventh, senior men’s discus (31.45m), ninth, shot out (9.26m); Cassidy Kent, eighth, senior women’s 100m (13.71 sec.); Bradley Grignard, eighth, senior men’s 100m (11.95 sec.).

Titans

Tayah Desouza won both the midget women’s 80-metre hurdles (13.62 sec.) and long jump (4.69m).

Tanner Smyth was good as 1-2-3, winning senior men’s high jump (1.65m), placing second in the 400-metre hurdles (59.57 sec.) and third, in the 110-metre hurdles (15.11 sec.).

 

Eagles

Amy Ropchan led the Eagles’ contingent placing second in the senior women’s 3000 metres (12:35.3), while Hallee Knelsen finished third in the midget women’s 3000 (11.14.9).

Evan Deger, fourth, senior men’s high jump (1.55m); Gwen Martens, ninth, junior women’s 100m (14.44 sec.), 10th, long jump (4.02m).

 

Beavers

Colson Erb led the Beaver Nation, by winning the senior men’s 3000 metres (9:24.8). Emma McKnight finished second in the senior women’s 200 metres (27.72 sec.) and third, in the 100 metres (13.17 sec.).

Abby Downing, third, midget women’s pole vault (1.95m); Connor Erb, fourth, midget men’s 3000m (10:31.01); Bethany Hiemstra, fourth, senior women’s 400m (1:11.42); Aiden Currah, fifth, midget men’s pole vault (2.15m), eighth, 800m (2:31.4); Karley Nancekivell fifth, senior women’s 400m (1:13.24), fifth, pole vault (2.00m); Sarah Ashby, fifth, senior women’s discus (26.56m); Thomas Hertner, fifth, senior men’s shot put (11.06m), ninth, discus (27.74m); Ashley MacMillan, sixth, midget women’s pole vault (1.65m).

Savanna Cronk led the Rams, winning the senior women’s high jump, clearing 1.40 metres.
