U13 Cardinals split games at OBA AA

MISSISAUGA, Ont. - The St. Thomas 13U Cardinals split a pair of games on day one of the Ontario Baseball Association 13U AA championship Friday.

Oshawa edged the Cardinals, 8-7, in both teams' opening game, thanks to a six run fifth inning.

Carter Gosnell batted two-for-two for the Cardinals, drew two walks and had two RBIs. Cooper Davis hit a home run and added a single. Zachary Moorhouse had a pair of hits and two RBIs, while Grayson Noble chipped in with two singles.

On the mound, Noble and Davis combined for a three-hitter, striking out 12 batters, but walking nine.

St. Thomas won their second game, 15-5, over Seaway, thanks to seven runs in the sixth inning.

Noble batted five-for-five, including a double, with five RBIs and two runs scored. Davis was four-for-five, with one RBI. Gosnell drew three walks and scored four times, Brooks Ambrose drove in two runs and Cal McCoubrey had a single and three base on balls.

Gosnell pitched six and two-thirds inning, allowing nine hits, only earned run, while striking out five batters.

St. Thomas faces Leaside in game three Saturday morning.
