U13 Cardinals on to day three at 3-1

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - The St. Thomas 13U Cardinals are spreading their wings to the Sunday of the Ontario Baseball Association AA championship.

The redbirds defeated Leaside, 12-7, before pounding Thornhill, 18-9, on Saturday, to advance to day three of the tournament.

At 3-1, St. Thomas is one of four teams remaining, joining Waterdown, Sarnia and Waterloo.

Most of the offence occurred in the first two innings against Leaside, with the Cardinals coming out leading 10-6.

Cooper Davis took over pitching in the third inning, holding Leaside to one hit and one walk, while striking out seven mistakes.

Cooper helped himself offensively, hitting a solo home run and one single.

Brooks Ambrose had a pair of hits and two RBIs, Cal McCoubrey and Jack Campbell drove in two runs each, while Zachary Moorhouse had two singles and a pair of walks. Jaxon Hammond slapped out two singles, picking up a RBI.

The Cardinals exploded on Thornhill, scoring five, seven and six runs, in the first three innings.

Davis led the way, with three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored, while Moorhouse pumped out four hits, including a double, and scored three times. Ambrose had five RBIs and Moorhouse, two.

St. Thomas faces Waterloo Sunday morning.
