U11 Cardinals alive in Rep playoffs, Out of Select

LONDON, Ont. - The St. Thomas Cardinals remain alive and will play on Sunday at the London District Baseball Association (LDBA) 11U Rep playoffs.

The Cardinals jumped out to a 9-2 lead after four innings and then held off the London Talons, for a 11-9 win Saturday.

Maximus Feairs and Ashton Millyard, both batted two-for-two, including a double, with three RBIs. Spencer Gaulett had a RBI triple and single and Noah Annett, a double and single.

Earlier in the day, St. Thomas dumped Lucan-Ilderton, 14-8, pounding out 17 hits.

Cooper Bale had a triple and single, driving in four runs, Ashton was two-for-two, with three RBIs and Gauntlett, three-for-three and one RBI. David Kernohan, chipped in with a pair of singles and one RBI.

St. Thomas lost their opening game to Dorchester, 13-4.

After a 2-0 start at the LDBA 11U Select playoffs on day one, the St. Thomas Cardinals dropped both games on day two, 12-10 to DKMB and 13-10 to Strathroy, to be eliminated, Saturday at the Tarry Complex.

In a back and forth game against DKMB, the Cardinals led 4-1 after one inning, but trailed 9-6 heading into the sixth inning. The Cardinals scored four times for a 10-9 lead, but DKMB replied with three runs during their at bat.

Cameron Thomson hit three-for-three for St. Thomas, with one RBI, while Cameron Hodgins and Hardy Buis, both had a double and single and four and three RBIs, respectively.

Against Strathroy, Adrian Steenbergen had a double and two RBIs and Dylan East and two-for-two, drew a walk and had one RBI.

In the 11U B playoffs, Southwest London eliminated Dutton, with a 11-6 win.
