Okkerse keep winning X-C races

LONDON, Ont. - Nash Okkerse continues to be undefeated in TVRA cross country.

The Parkside Stampeder won the junior boys four kilometer race, at the Banting Bronco Invitational, Thursday at Springbank Park, crossing the finished line in 16 minutes and 16 seconds (16:16), 31 seconds ahead of Huron Park Huskies Ryker Slusarczyk in second place.

Okkerse has won every race entered, including going five for five last year as a novice, capped with taking the Tri-County title. All a warm up for capturing an OFSAA gold medal last November.

Makayla Varallo of Thorndale, with Medway High, won her second race of the season, taking the junior girls race, by 11 seconds, finishing in 20:15.

St. Joe's Rams Kian Wardle placed second in the novice boys three K race, behind winner Denny McDonald, from Clinton St. Anne's.

Dorchester Beavers Sophia Smith finished seventh in novice girls.

St. Joe's Elizabeth Simpson was 10th in novice girls, followed by teammate Della Berg, in 11th spot.

St. Joe's placed second in the junior boys team standings, with Michal Hejna, Mateo Uolla, Mason Fasseel and Benjamin Tomlin, the top four finishers for points.

The Rams junior girls team also was second, with Nevaeh Facey, Andie Spicer, Rivers Southwick and Olivia Beauchamp.
