REGINA, Sask. - Nash Okkerse is a double gold medalist at the Legion Youth National track and field championships.

Okkerse from St. Thomas, won both the U16 boys 1200 (three minutes and 11.79 seconds / 3:11.79) and 2000 (5:43.09) metre races, at the three day championship hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion.

In the 1200 on Friday, Okkerse came from five metres back over the final 30 metres to edge Abdishukri Hassan at the finish line.

Today, Okkersse won the 2000m by nearly two seconds.

Okkerse has the 800m on Sunday.

All three athletes train with St. Thomas Legio Club.

Okkerse and Sauer are competing as Team Ontario members.
