VANCOUVER, B.C. - Jayden McMullen of St. Thomas (photo) finished third in the men's 50-kilometre criterium race, at the Gastown Grand Prix in Vancover's historic core.
"Everything has just been coming together more recently and I have more opportunities to race some crits that I will do well in," McMullen said. "I’ve been on podium in some bigger crits this whole season and pretty consistent with the results. The crits just have lots of energy, speed and money so I have more motivation to race them. I will be doing more in the States this summer."
Finishing third earned McMullen $2000.
McMullen will be racing in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in August.
Making its debut in 1973, the cycling race takes place along the cobblestone streets in the city's oldest neighbourhood.
Brody Mann from St. Thomas finished 18th.
The criterium is a multi lap race on a short course (800 to 2400 metres), known for high speed and sharp technical corners.
