Lawson lifts Stars to Overtime road win

LISTOWEL, Ont. - Tyran Lawson scores 35 seconds into overtime giving the St. Thomas Stars a 4-3 win over the Listowel Cyclones.

On the road Sunday, the Stars struck three times in the first 11 minutes of the second period for a 3-0 lead.

The first two junior goals for Khade Metatawabin sandwiched a Jimmy Sutherland marker.

Listowel pulled to within one on a pair of power play goals by the end of the second period.

Dax Vader tied the game for Listowel scoring 15 seconds in to the third frame.

Lawson, Carter L'Heureux, Graham Littlejohn and Pierson Clute, picked up assists.

The Lawson winner was unassisted.

Stars goalie Dylan Durno made 38 saves.

The Stars start the Greater Ontario Hockey League season at 2-0, after winning their home opener in a shootout Friday.

St. Thomas shares top spot in the Western Conference with Chatham and Woodstock.

The Stars visit St. Marys September 18, before hosting Brantford, Sunday, September 20.
