Lawson and special teams keep Stars undefeated

ST THOMAS - Led by their special teams and a pair of goals from Tyran Lawson, the St. Thomas Stars remain undefeated and share top spot in the GOHL Western Conference.

The Stars scored twice while shorthanded and once on the power play, to defeat the Brantford Titans, 5-1, improving to 4-0, Sunday at the Joe.

Tied at one after Reid Littlejohn opened the scoring for the Stars, the home team scored three goals in six minutes.

Lawson's two goals, with the man advantage, sandwiched Cole Edmundson's shorty.

Brodie Rithie potted his first junior goal, scoring a shorty two minutes into the third period.

Stars captain Owen Gray had twp assists, while Lawson, Cade Kinnear, Ryker Kesler, Jimmy Sutherland, Graham Littlejohn and goalie Dylan Durno, each picked up one assist.

Durno has a less busy game in net than previous games, as the Stars out shot the Titans, 44-27.

Brantford was zero for seven on the power play.

The game featured two tussles, featuring Stars Pierson Clute in the first period and Darcy Dewachter in the second.

The Stars lost the recently signed Kesler three minutes into the second period, to a check to he head major game misconduct.

Kesler is a London Knights prospect, drafted 27th overall in this year's OHL Priority Selection. Kesler, son of former NHLer Ryan Kesler, had 15 goals and 20 assists in 20 games with the Little Caesars 15U team out of Michigan last season.

Defenceman Ryan Beaulieu, 16, another Knights draft pick, signed with the Stars. Beaulieu, the captain of the London Jr. Knighs U16 AAA team last season, also appeared in five games with the Stars.

Two of the Stars' AP players are on the OHL U16 2027 consensus ranking, Tyson Orr at number nine and Eiljah Schipper, in the 37th spot.
