Lai silver at ofsaa girls golf
Last year's champ had to settle for second due to one incredible round

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. - Andrea Lai has another colour of medal from OFSAA girls golf.
The Grade 10 student at St. Joseph's high school, brought home a silver medal, in the open division at the high school provincial championship, a two day event hosted by Royal Niagara golf course, October 14-15.
Lai finished tied for second with Serena Zhang of Crestwood Prep in Toronto, each carding a 71 on both days and two-under for the tournament.
"I feel I played solid throughout the tournament. I was hitting fairways and putting was solid," said Lai. "It means a lot to me to come out on the podium. I'm really proud with the way I played and happy to have represented St. Joes."
After winning OFSAA gold in Grade nine a year ago, Lai was looking to repeat, but Sierra Kowalyshyn, from Bishop Ryan in Hamilton, caught everyone's attention on day one with a six-under 66, five strokes lower than Lai.
Kowalyshyn lost a few strokes on day two, but held on for the gold medal.
Hole six on the course gave Lai fits.
"That pin I promise was an illegal placement, but send it way past the pin and 3 putted," said Lai. "The course overall was pretty good, greens were rolling good."
St. Joseph's Rams Melissa Gillies, in the high school division, placed 52nd (98,95).
Avalina Flick had the top result in the high school division, for players from WOSSAA, finishing 18th (88,88). Avery Kojlak was 36th (91,94), Lulu Stuckless, 40th (92,93) and Ellia Lobraica, 49th (95,97).
