Kana laser nabs attempted theft Of home
Collegiate Catch Up: Zylstra, Battaglia, Nmor, Sawyer, Lindsay, Tales, Dolby, Nolte sisters
ST. THOMAS - Jack Zylstra of St. Thomas, with the St. Clair Saints, placed seventh, at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) men's golf championship.
Zylstra carded a nine-over 225 (80, 71, 74) over the three round tournament, at Fire Rock golf club in Komoka, September 28-30.

Zander Battaglia from St. Thomas, with the Fanshawe Falcons, was ninth, scoring a 15-over 231 (75, 76, 80).
St. Clair's Cale Marontate won the men's event with a three over-219.
Humber Hawks won both the men's and women's team titles.
The St. Clair men took silver.
Debut race
Flourish Nmor from St. Thomas, finished 12th in her first collegiate race with the Lambton Lions, covering eight kilometres in twenty six minutes and 15 seconds (26:15), at the Fanshawe Invitational cross country meet October 3 at Fanshawe Conservation Area.
Nmor, Lambton's second finisher behind Abilene Clark in 10th place (25:36), helped the Lions to the girls team title. Emma Munroe, finishing 13th and Caelin Podolinsky, 22nd, complete the Lions' top four.
Mark Lindsay of Dorchester, with the host Falcons, placed 31st in the men's race.
At Welland, Allie Tales from St. Thomas, had a goal and an assist in the St. Clair Saints 4-0 shutout of Niagara, October 3 in OCAA women's soccer.
A day earlier on home turf, Tales had one of the Saints 10 goals, her first of the season, in a shell-lacking silencing of the Lambton Lions.
St. Clair is 6-1, first place in the OCAA West division.
Taylor Kana from Springfield, with the St. Clair Saints made a throw worthy of being shown with the TSN highlights on October 4 versus the Humber Hawks.
Tied at three in the bottom of the fifth inning, Hawks' Maddy Friesen sent a ball to Kana in center field. Kana made the catch and then fired a laser to home plate, gunning down the runner attempting to score.
In a clash of two of the OCAA top teams, Humber won 8-0 and 4-3, to improve to 14-3, first in the OCAA. St. Clair slides to 12-6, third place, behind Durham in second spot.
Kana drew a base on balls in each game and leads the OCAA with 11 walks on the season.
On the season, Kana is batting .375, including two home runs, three doubles and a triple and has 10 RBIs. The sophomore's on base percentage is .500, sixth highest in the league.

Lexie Sawyer of St. Thomas had two singles and two RBIs, helping the Fanshawe Falcons dump Lambton, 13-3, in women's softball, on the last day of September at Sarnia.
Sawyer is hitting .395, with eight RBIs.
Fanshawe is 7-9.
Sister Act Continues
Sisters Annika and Bella Nolte from Dorchester, both scored for the Nipissing Lakers in a 2-2 tie with the Toronto Blues, in Ontario University Athletics (OUA) women's soccer October 4. The sisters combined for five shots on net.
Annika Nolte was named player of the game, in a 2-1 win against Queen's in OUA women's soccer October 3. Nolte had four shots on net.
Nipissing is 6-2-1, second in the OUA East division and is ranked ninth in the nation.
Bella earned her second Nipissing Lakers Female Casey's Peak Performer for the week September 28 to October 4.
At Western University in London, Ethan Dolby of St. Thomas rushed for 96 yards, but was denied any touchdowns, in the Western Mustangs' 41-30 loss to the Queen's Gaels, in OUA football October 3.
