Third consecutive Valley Gold for Samko
The Northdale Central student wins the Grade seven girls race at Valley cross country
LONDON, Ont. - Brooke Samko now has a hat trick of Valley cross country titles.
The Grade seven student at Northdale Central won her third consecutive race at the Thames Valley Distict School Board (TVDSB) elementary cross country finals October 21 at Fanshawe Conservation.
"I worked hard and tried my best not to let second place in front of me," said Samko, who led led the two and half kilometre course wire to wire. "I like to get in front, as it makes me feel comfortable. When the other girls are following me around, I can speed up from them."
Of the three wins, Samko feels her win in Grade five was most challenging.
"The first year because Vienna was on my back the whole time and I felt pressured," Samko recalled.
There may be pressure next year as the competition certainly knows Samko well.
Complete results to follow, when released by TVDSB.
Charlotte Ross of St. Thomas, with John Wise school, finished third in the junior girls race.
