Bradish brings home silver with volleyball Canada
Canada made the NORCECA U19 women's final and qualified for the world championships
BELMONT, Ont. - Avery Bradish is one of Canada's top junior volleyball players.
The 17-year old from Belmont and a Grade 12 student at Dorchester Secondary school, was a middle blocker on Team Canada's silver medal team at the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) Continental U19 championship, late July in San Jose, Costa Rica.
"It was really fun and a super cool experience," said Bradish, who is six foot two inches tall. "It was nice to meet people from all over Canada, as well as some people from around the world too. The playing part was really cool too, seeing what the next level is like,"
Canada lost the best of five game final to the USA, three to zero.
The Canadians swept Mexico in the semifinals, after defeating both Jamaica and Costa Rica, both 3-0 wins, in pool play.
"Some of my personal highlights were my blocks," said Bradish. "After getting subbed into the Jamaica game, the first point I played I was able to successfully block and win the point. I also was proud of my block against the USA captain."
Bradish, who plays club ball with Forest City, has been on Team Ontario for four consecutive years, with a best result being second at the 2025 Canada Cup.
This is the first time on a National team.
"When I found out I made Team Canada I couldn't believe it. I was so shocked and very excited for the opportunity," said Bradish, who survived training camp cuts. "When I found out I made the travel team that would be going to Costa Rica, I was so proud of myself. I was crying happy tears and sharing the news to all my friends and family."
Bradish with her Canadian teammates likely shared more happy tears and sharing the news of bringing home a medal.
