EXETER, Ont. - Donovan Appleford had a hat trick lifting the Aylmer Spitfires over the Exeter Hawks, 6-4, Friday.
The Hawks led 2-0 after one period on a pair of goals from Jonas Schmidt, before Spitfires Holden Clark and Matthew Prendergast tied the affair.
Exeter moved ahead 3-2, but then Appeleford took over with his three goals.
Clark found the empty net for his second tally of the night.
Spits' Reid Littlejohn drew two assists.
Chase Wedlake and and Harrison Meulensteen, also scored for Exeter.
Aylmer goalie Anderson Camilleri made 43 saves, as the Hawks out shot the Spitfires, 47-32.
The Spitfires are 2-1.
