9U Cardinals 4-0 heading to LDBA final

LONDON, Ont. - The St. Thomas 9U Cardinals are one win away from a London District Baseball Association (LDBA) title.

A comeback in the bottom of the seventh was needed for the Cardinals to advance to the final, Monday in Byron.

Dawson Simpson drove in the winning run, as St. Thomas walked-off the Dorchester Diamondbacks, 15-14, Sunday.

Trailing 14-11, a pair of errors and singles by Xavi Hill, Greyson Ramnath and Landen Dysktra, combined to tie the game.

St. Thomas led 9-7, before Dorchester scored seven times in the top of the fourth for a 14-9 lead.

The Cardinals chipped back with a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings.

Brett Gustavson batted 4-for-4, with 3 RBI, while Hill finished three-for-four, with three RBI.

Ben Wakefield and Jose Albor both were three-for-four with one RBI. Wakefield and Nolan Dodson both had triples.

After a win Saturday, St. Thomas opened Sunday downing North London, 14-4.

Wakefield had a two run triple and two singles, while Gustavson, tapped out three singles.

Dodson hit a RBI double and RBI single; Hill, a RBI single and RBI double, Albor, a two run single, Ramnath, a two run double, and Dykstra RBI double

The Cardinals doubled up on West London, 8-4, to improve to 3-0.

Wakefield, went three-for-three, including a pair of RBI doubles. Hill drove in two runs.
