ST. THOMAS - The St. Thomas Cardinals remain alive in the London District Baseball Association (LDBA) 18U playoffs.
St. Thomas held off the West London Tincaps, 8-6, Monday night at Emslie Field.
The Cardinals jumped put to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and held an 8-2 advantage, before surviving a Tincaps' seventh inning rally.
Both teams only produced seven hits a side.
The Tincaps made six errors and the Cardinals, two.
Riley Latter slapped out a two-run double in the opening inning. A London error allowed two more Cardinals runs to score.
Andrew Oates, Aaron Dyke and Nathan Watson, each had a RBI.
Pitcher Cameron Morrison scattered six hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out nine batters, allowing four runs, only two earned.
Wyatt Allerston earned the save getting the final out of the game.
The Cardinals return to action Tuesday, 6 p.m. at Emslie, in what could be the final, pending other results Monday, against either St. Marys or Wyoming.
St. Thomas opened the eight team playoff tournament falling to London Talons 18U, 5-4, before defeating Strathroy, 7-0 and London Talons 17U, 9-3.
The event has stretched on to a fifth day, due to rain postponing games on the Saturday.
