 Beavers and Rams take team XC titles

 

   Dorchester captures senior boys and novice girls while St. Joe's takes junior boys

   and Cerena Aitken-Guignard wins her first cross country race

LONDON, ON. - The St. Joseph's Rams' junior boys keep rolling out on the trails, while the both Lord Dorchester Beavers' senior boys and novice girls open more eyes.

All three teams were champions at the Banting Invitational cross country meet, at Springbank Park, October 26th.

The top four runners on each team count for points, with the fifth runner's position being the tie-breaker, if required.

The St. Joseph's Rams handily won the junior boys title, for a second consecutive meet, placing four runners in the top 10. Tristan Coles and Brent Hagerty finished two-three, behind London Central's Heath McAllister.

Ram Harrison Belanger was fifth, Aiden Holder, ninth, James Hill, 16th and Joel Bowden, 27th.

A week earlier the Rams were junior boys champions at the Fairground Festival in Dorchester.

Connor Erb led the Dorchester senior boys, finishing fifth, in 19:27, followed by Owen Pink, in 13th, Dilpreet Sandhu, 19th, Evan Gillies, 23rd and Garrett Snyders, 33rd.

Dorchester's novice girls handily won their team title, over runner-up London Lucas, led by Jenna Wideman's seventh place finish. Devin Dance was 11th, Tegan Ceccanese, 16th, Nicola Hammond, 25th and Allie Humphries, 29th.

Cerena Aitken-Guignard

St. Joseph's Ram Cerena Aitken-Guignard won her first high school cross country race, taking the junior girls' gold medal and leading the Rams' team to third place. Fellow Ram Ashley Betancourt was 14th.

East Elgin Eagle Hallee Knelsen, in her first race at the senior level, finished second behind Wingham Madill's Abigail Kraayenbrink, who won in 21 minutes flat.

St. Joseph's Ram Arielle Aitken-Guignard placed 25th (26:38).

Vincent Moore led the Parkside Stampeders, in the junior boys' race, finishing seventh, with Mason Basson right on his heels, in eighth place.

St. Joseph's Ram Will Mantel was seventh, in the novice boys' race.

Dorchester's Ashley Legg finished eighth, in the junior girls' race.

St. Joseph's Ram Christine Annett placed 10th, in the novice girls' race.

Up next is the Springwater Invitational at the Springwater Conservation Area, in Orwell, is Thursday, October 3rd.

The TVRA Tri-County championships occur at the shared property of Strathroy District C.I. and Holy Cross, Wednesday, October 16th.  

Fanshawe Golf Club hosts WOSSAA, October 24th, also the site of the 2020 OFSAA championships. This year, OFSAA is in Sudbury, Saturday, November 2nd.
