UNION, ON. - John Orlebar fired an 84 over 18 holes, to win the Thames Valley Regional Athletics (TVRA) Tri-County boys' golf A flight individual title.

The East Elgin secondary school student helped the Eagles place fourth as a team, at the tournament, held at the St. Thomas Golf and Country Club.

Orelbar won by one stroke, over Dorchester's Jayden Boddy and St. Joseph's Brett Chapman, both carding an 85.

St. Joe's Owen McIntyre and Tillsonburg Glendale's Griffin Sinden, both finished with an 86, while Eagles' Landon Underhill and Woodstock CI's Rhys Jones, each had a round of 87.

The St. Joseph's Rams won the Tri-County team title by 12 strokes, with a combined total of 260. Chapman led the way, followed by McIntrye (86), Aiden Shaw (89) and Jake Ferencz (107).

The top six teams and the four low individual scores, not on the top six teams, advance to the Western Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association (WOSSAA) championship, back at the STTGCG, on September 27.

Woodstock Collegiate finished second, followed by Dorchester (Boddy, Aidan Smith, Aidan Roberts, McGregor Geoffries), East Elgin (Olebar, Underhill, Tyson Freisinger, Nick Cowx), Parkside (Luke Trowman, 88, Quinntin Gocan, Jamie Quick, Tyson Benwell) and Strathroy DCI.

Individuals qualifying are Sinden (87) and Shane Brazier (89), Jake Felker of Woodstock St. Mary's and Ingersoll's Joey Parkhill.

In B flight action, Central Elgin Titan Rob Schivers led the way with an 81. West Elgin Wildcat Gavin Lunn and Central Elgin Titan both finished at 93. The Titans were the best B flight team, also including Gavin Barnhouse and Christian Vecchio.

From WOSSAA, the winning team and the top two individual scores not on the top team, qualify for OFSAA, at the Royal Ashburn Golf club, in Oshawa, October 9-11.
