WOODSTOCK, Ont. - Windy conditions didn't stop East Elgin Eagles thrower Taylor Kana, St. Joe's Rams Ethan Atkinson, or Dorchester Beavers' runner Kirk Hallman from setting meet records.

The trio set new marks at the Woodstock Spring Classic track and field meet, May 8 at College Avenue secondary school.

Hallman knocked off over 16 seconds, smashing the junior boys 3000 metres time, finishing in nine minutes and 22.54 seconds (9:22.54), breaking the record (9:38.74) that stood since 2017, set by Aaron Canfield, of Woodstock Huron Park.

Kana threw the javelin 39.84 metres, surpassing the old senior girls mark of 38.35 metres.
